Wednesday, 25th Sep 2013 15:06

Town are running ticket promotions at the Barnsley and Leicester home games.

For the match against the Tykes, which is being shown live by Sky on Friday 1st November, season ticket holders will be entitled to buy four additional seats for friends and family at reduced prices, £10 for an adult seat.

The Blues are also offering under-16s tickets at £1 for the Leicester match on Saturday 23rd November. For more details, visit the club site.

I think the Barnsley offer should also apply to Members.

They have probably taken note of the recent fall in attendances, the Barnsley game is of course on sky on the friday night, I guess if they didn't run this offer it would be the lowest attendance at portman road for a league game for many years.

These promotions are good but it still doesn't address the issue that we have 30,000 seater stadium and are only just about half filling it, something needs to be done on a permanent basis. We have the fan base but at £30-£40 for an adult ticket many fans can not afford that amount of money to watch a game of football in the championship.

I'm sure there is a compromise that could be met where prices are reduced, attracting more fans so revenues do not suffer, Portman Road is rocking, everyone is happy.

Robbie12345 ....

They would never do that because of us season ticket holders, seeing as we only have 2/3 home games a month or something.

I dont know why everyone is so obsessed with having portman road full, if they are the same as the boring silent idiots we have at the moment you wouldnt even notice the difference in terms of vocal support

And if people are so concerned about match day prices then buy a season ticket and every game is 20 quid or less, if you cant commit to it then dont moan about on the door prices, if it was those prices for man u at home it would be a full house regardless, so if you aint prepared to go to the smaller games for that price dont go to the big ones ( if and when they eventually come)

Before the arguments about its worth 30 quid to see man u play start, the ticket price is meant to be to watch IPSWICH play not the opposition, hence im there every single home game regardless

I know i would get to more games if it was £10-£20 a ticket make use of all those seats

I can see the point, but why would people want a season ticket? Its loyalty being rewarded, which is why they do offers sometimes like above, although i see the flaw in knowing a season ticket holder

Ozzy itfc- if they did, it would then keep people coming to games and fill the stadium up a lot more, even on full priced tickets. They can lower the season tickets too! Actually the atmosphere this year has been poorer than previous seasons with higher attendance. If you can remember the last derby, with Portman Road buzzing, it would be closer to that with reduced prices regularly, but obviously not the same rivalry.

If the team start winning regularly, score goals and are nearer the top of the league. The attendance will go up. Customers need to be sent home happy more often. A win at Wigan to keep the run going would have increased the attendance on Saturday. The loss means the same old crowd will turn up! ie season ticket holders plus a couple of thousand casuals.

The worst thing is, the terrible atmosphere seems to moving to away games as well, charlton away last season there was about 1500 to 2000 away fans and there no more than 50 ppl singing and everone was sitting down! Qpr and reading were good thisnyear though

I think when we do offers, we need to try and include the whole fan base. Obviously the season ticket holders deserve more discount as they put the most money into the club, but obviously we need to persuade more people to get season tickets so we need to get the general fans in to the ground too. Why would someone pay £30 per ticket when they can watch it on Sky?

another half hearted attempt to put bums on seats.. realise a solution is not easy with Prem clubs in same boat.. whoever is being paid to improve this, isnt up to it for sure. I could sort it, with my passion for our club..

The amount of people on here who kept saying "why don't they do kids for a quid" over and over again. Then when they do people still moan!

Awful same old offer that does not work. The problem here is it relies on someone knowing a season ticket holder and then having to arrange to pay and collect tickets etc. Too complicated.
How about free drink/pie or programme for st holders and just charge and maybe £10 tickets for away games as a thank you and £10 on the gate instead with kids £1 to entice non STH?

If people are willing to pay £20 a ticket then they could afford a season ticket.

AbujaBlue added 21:18 - Sep 25
Waffer - people usually buy tickets on the day because they are unable to attend every single game for various reasons, meaning a season ticket would make no sense financially.

Totally agree ozzy_itfc, why don't these part time fans buy a season ticket its much cheaper in the long run. far to many stay away fickle fans

Unfortunately it is the self regarding myopic fans lucky enough to have the money to buy a season ticket that don't help things.

At people(sic) like Blue Moon & Ozzy_itfc, who sit on their high perches lording it over others, why do you think people don't buy season tickets? Seriously, why? Yep, season tickets do work out as reasonable over a season, but this assumes you are available for all the home games and that you can afford the commitment.

I'll be buying tickets for these games, it makes things affordable, but those that criticise others for not having the funds are clearly just Conservative MP's in the making....

Im not sitting on a perch or criticising anybody, i'm glad the ocasional offer so the likes of yourself can attend, my point being i'm sure most of the people who say they cannot afford it or commit the time would all of a sudden find the time and money if we got promoted

A season ticket works out at btwn 20 - 40 per month a cheaper option in the long run so I don't understand people paying on the day prices 50 pound for the Leeds game was ludicrous

Mark added 12:36 - Sep 26
How much are senior and children's tickets on 1st? It only seems to give the £10 adult price.

I'd find time to get to more games if the team were in the Prem ... my nearest ground is Old Trafford. I ain't going to get down to PR very often on my wages from here ! So, a season ticket is a non-starter. Factor in travel costs and any PR game is a very big ask. I've been to a few away game recentlys, but not many. I used to be a Season Ticket holder when I lived in Suffolk !

I wouldn't be a season ticket holder even if I lived in Suffolk at the moment - if Town were in the Prem, I more likely might be. But probably not. Can't justify that sort of money, sorry. We're not all rolling in lolly, so go easy on the "part-time" fans, please !

there was a debate about this subject on Talk Sport the other week, one club (cant remember who now) offered a '5 game ticket' so fans that wouldn't/couldn't commit to a season ticket could still get a deal on a 5 game bulk ticket for the period of their choosing. Thought it was quite a good idea. Also Boro I think it was give Season ticket holders a free pint every match.

Great! I can't wait to ask a mate to part with £10 to spend a Friday night watching Ipswich and Barnsley give a good imitation of artillery practise.
