McGoldrick Nominated for Player of the Month
Thursday, 3rd Oct 2013 09:13

Striker David McGoldrick has been nominated for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award for September.

The 25-year-old scored four goals in the month, two against Middlesbrough and another brace in last week’s 2-0 victory over Brighton.

Also nominated are QPR keeper Robert Green, Burnley centre-half Jason Shackell and Reading midfielder Danny Guthrie. The winner will be announced on Friday.

McGoldrick, who signed a two-year permanent deal in the summer following a loan spell last season, previously picked up last December’s League One Player of the Month award for his displays on loan with Coventry

The last Town player to win the award was Connor Wickham in February 2011, while Lee Martin was the most recent nominee in the same month the following year.

I think Cresswell has been our player of the month.

Great for him to get a bit of extra recognition. I often think they just pull a few names out of hat with this sort of thing, but I hope he gets it anyway.

Danny Ings or Lingard for Birmingham ahead of McGoldrick in my opinion.

Why do we always have to be negative when something good happens?

Mick we must extend his contract NOW. By the way, you're both doing a great job you and TC. COYB's.

I love McGoldrick but he seems to find it easier in front of goal at Portman Road than away from home. He had a few chances to put us out of sight at Derby the other night. Hopefully he'll bag a few in Sheffield on Saturday!

McGoldrick is a star player, and I don't think ITFC should let star players (unless over 30) get into the last two years of their contract, as we need them secured for the future or at least to guarantee a good transfer fee if they do leave. So, please sign him up! :-)

Good player deserves it IMO.

Hope he doesn't win it. Not because he doesn't deserve it, I just don't want to tempt fate, as how many times has a player won an award then had a terrible following month?

As much as I think he deserves it, I'm always wary that awards like this push people to the front of the shop window. Totally agree, extend his contract, that way should the worst happen, at least we'd get a decent few bob out of the deal.

I think it's pretty fair to say if anybody's got a bit about them. Then somebody has a scout watching them just the same with us I'm sure when time comes MCg will do the best for himself .Good luck to him hope he stays as makes a change to see some skill
