Tunnicliffe Fulham Move Confirmed
Saturday, 1st Feb 2014 00:27

Former Town loanee Ryan Tunnicliffe's permanent move from Manchester United to Fulham has been confirmed. The 21-year-old, who has been recruited along with his Red Devils team-mate Larnell Cole for an undisclosed fee, has signed a contract until 2017 with the Cottagers having an option for a further year.

Tunnicliffe told Fulham's official website that he couldn't turn down the chance to work with boss René Meulensteen, who he knows well from their time together at Old Trafford.

"I’ve known René since I was nine and there was talk when he took over that he was interested in me, so it’s just picked up steam this week really and I’m here now and glad to sign," he said.

"René didn’t have to sell Fulham to me, for a start they’re in the Premier League and I want to play at the highest level. I know René and I know he’s a great coach so I’m just excited to work for him.

"Fulham’s a great club anyway — they’ve been in the Premier League for a long time now and I just can’t wait to get started.

"I want to play at the highest level I possibly can and, to me, that’s the Premier League because it’s the best league in the world. I want to play as many games as I can and improve as a player because I’m only young, and we’ll see where we go from there."

Tunnicliffe's spell with the Blues was cut short earlier this week when he was recalled. He joined Town on a six-month loan in August and had his loan extended until the end of the season at the start of January. He made 24 starts and five sub appearances for the Blues without scoring.

Bad coverage of him by sky sports/twitter/club websites, thought the deal had failed to go through in time! Nevermind, lets wait and see what Micky can bring in in the loan window! 3 points today please COYB

Good luck Tunny, I wish you all the best, BUT not to sad to see you go as I think Hyam has all that you possess.

He will be no where near their first team as he was only really average for us.

I for one welcome this- will force Mick to play more attacking/talented players in midfield

I actually thought we may be in with a chance of getting him permanently in the summer but that's not to be, shame Fulham couldn't wait another year because then he could have been our player and we'd have received a transfer fee, Man Utd hardly need the money do they?

So we'll be seeing him at PR next year on Fulham's bench.

The only reason I liked him was because I thought he was going to sign for us next season. Good young player.

Good to see that he was very appreciative to Town for giving him his chance!!!! Still he is still young and forgetful.

Over rated player. Certainly not Premier League material. As Sindre says, not one mention of what McCarthy or Ipswich have done for him. Glad he's gone, maybe we can sign a player who can actually create something or score a goal.

Whatever. Couldn't care less, he only ever wanted to use us as a stepping stone for his future career in league 1 anyway

He's not even on the bench for Fulham v Soton today. Seems strange. Late transfer I know, but he would have played for us today.
