Pulis Hoping Williams Breaks Into Town XI
Wednesday, 12th Mar 2014 12:54

Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis is hoping on-loan Eagle Jonny Williams breaks into the Town starting line-up in the remaining weeks of his month with the Blues.

The 20-year-old missed the Birmingham game due to a hamstring injury before coming on as a sub at Middlesbrough and Yeovil.

Pulis told the Croydon Advertiser that he is keeping a close eye on Williams’s progress and will decide whether his loan can be extended when his current spell is up at the end of March.

“I was on my way down to watch him on Tuesday,” he said. “Jonny needs to play football and obviously we want him to get the time in, that’s important.

“We hope he gets it and he starts games for Ipswich playing in the Championship. It’s a tough, tough league.

“For Jonny to get some games as a starter will be brilliant for him. We won’t decide on his future until the loan move ends.”

Williams was very, very good when he came on last night.

Sounds like 'use him or lose him' to me

He came on in a free role last night behind Murphy - got on the ball, took players on, injected some pace. Very useful and put Yeovil on the back foot.
We should accommodate him in the team on Saturday.

Can only agree that he gave us a completely different dimension last night and really rocked their defence at times running at them..................has to be a starter on Saturday surely ????!!!!!!!

OK he was injured for the first game, but he deserves to be in the team on ability alone, i can't understand the negativity from MM with regard to team selection at this stage of the season, if we truly want to finish in the top six then we need to go for it because time is running out. MM doesn't seen to have a problem dropping Taylor but not Tabb for some reason. If Williams had started against Boro then maybe the result might have been different.

I think Mick might be being a bit clever with Jonny. If he starts every game and plays a blinder then Pulis will recall him straight away, but if he slowly gets him into a starting position by the end of his month, then I can see Pulis saying keep him a bit longer and get him some more game time here.

For me permanent players or those who are likely to be with us next season shoud start. Williams seems to be a quality player, but doubt he will be with us next season.

So are we to believe that there is little or no chance of him becoming our player ?

Wickets - even if Williams did become available, then palace would want a significant fee, which rules us out!

Was listening to it on iPlayer, as couldn't make trip. Agree with Guthrum re Jonny Williams. When he came on, and until the rest of the match, the main name I kept hearing on the commentary over and again, was his.
