Wordsworth Starts at Brighton
Saturday, 22nd Mar 2014 14:21

Anthony Wordsworth is recalled to the Town starting line-up in place of the injured Cole Skuse as the Blues take on Brighton at the Amex Stadium.

The former Colchester man starts for the first time since the home FA Cup tie against Preston, his only game since then an appearance from the bench against Bolton. Today’s match will be the 25-year-old’s fourth start since joining the Blues in January 2013 and only his fifth appearance of the season.

Town’s starting line-up is otherwise unchanged with Frank Nouble back on the bench after his hamstring injury, while there is no place in the 18 for Paul Taylor. Former Blues loanee Keith Andrews starts for Brighton.

Brighton: Kuszczak, Bruno, Upson, Greer, Ward, Andrews, Ince, Forster-Caskey, Buckley, Lingard, Ulloa. Subs: Calderon, Dunk, Stephens, March, LuaLua, Rodriguez.

Town: Gerken, Chambers (c), Berra, Smith, Cresswell, Wordsworth, Hyam, Anderson, Hunt, Williams, Murphy. Loach, Mings, Green, Tabb, Richardson, Ebanks-Banks, Nouble.

Just heard that Paul Taylor is not even on the bench today, I feel very disillusioned by Mick, let's hope we get the win today otherwise I think he needs to tell us why he refuses to play Taylor.

why on earth is nouble put straight back on bench over Taylor? Mick these sorts of choices make you look a bit of a joke especially when you dont explain why

Taylor= Bad Apple. Get a life guys. What has he done for this club? He is no John Wark, Matty Holland, Or any decent Ipswich player of the past. Remember we sent him on loan to P'boro. What did he do there?

They put the season ticket prices and will still see no quality football. the only player who has impressed me is mcgoldrick and he was a free transfer. Cant wait till the day we buy a decent player!

So the mom from a few games ago and the only player apart from Williams who has a spark and can create a goal from nothing gets dropped out of the 18 to accomodate a lump who works the channels well.
Like you said yesterday Mick you havent been cautious at all this season have you?

What do you mean what has Taylor done wrong?!? Isn't it obvious? Mick wants him to solve world hunger and instigate world peace before he puts him on the bench! Oh and not to mention he hasn't scored a hat trick in every game he's played for us, useless

Well said Irishtim. You will get a lot of minus marks from the know nothings but you are absolutely correct

At the end of the day muccleton Taylor has never had a run because Mick is frightened to death he might perform and become undroppable. His adopted son wouldnt be able to play then would he?

Paul Taylor should start and be given a fair chance, he is too creative to leave out or even sit on the bench until it's all but too late to save the game, he is a very talented footballer and most people who've watched him play will know this, you are a good Manager generally Mick but you are shooting yourself and the rest of us, in the foot by the strange way that you fail to see this, choosing to play Frank Nouble instead of him !! I like Frank and want him to become better for us, however he is not yet to Paul Taylor's standard and we need to win games.

Not sure what's going on with MM and Taylor but Wordsworth and Taylor is interesting and not as defensive minded as I was expecting

Surprised Wordsworth starts, I take it Hyam is the holding midfielder?
As for the Taylor saga - well that's been elevated even more now he's not even getting in the squad! I feel he's going in the summer.

i think some people need to cut mick some slack over taylor. He has played well when required but he clearly has had off the field issues and none of us know what kind of a bloke he is. Lets remember that we've made progress this year because of a team ethic/spirit and from what I've seen he is very greedy, with not much end product.

bluemagic74 added 14:57 - Mar 22
Hairbear think ur right but would be nice 4 mm to tell us why

ITFCRealist added 14:58 - Mar 22
Cut him slack? He isn't playing our best player by far as he has some petty grudge against him.
The fans are speaking here Mick. We want Taylor on the pitch as we want to see good football, and win. Taylor will give us that.
If you are so stubborn then you should not manage our club.

Unless injured, I have to confess that I find it odd that Taylor is not on the bench. Can only assume he hasn't been putting in the effort in training, whilst by all accounts his performance for the 'reserves' was disappointing.

Wordsworth is at least an attacking option though. But is this team good enough to beat a good Brighton side? We'll know in a couple of hours!
