Marriott Hits Winner for Woking

Striker Jack Marriott scored the winning goal in the 85th minute as his loan club Woking beat Alfreton 2-1 at home in the Skrill Premier. It was Marriott’s 12th goal of his two spells with the Cards.

Elsewhere, captain Carlos Edwards was in the Millwall side which drew 2-2 with Town’s fellow play-off challengers Watford at the Den, Martyn Woolford netting the equaliser in injury time.

Elliott Hewitt and Gillingham lost 5-1 at Leyton Orient in League One with former Blue Kevin Lisbie amongst the scorers.

In Ireland's Airtricity League First Division Jack Doherty came on as a 70th minute sub as Waterford United drew 0-0 away against Cobh Ramblers.

Midfielder Amir Berkane, who has been told he will not be offered a pro deal at the end of the season, hit a hat-trick as Town’s U18s beat Coventry 4-0 at Playford Road this morning, first-year scholar Cemal Ramadan scoring the other goal.

Marcus added 02:09 - Apr 13 Marriott was knocking them in from every angle during his first loan spell but this time seems to be missing sitters. I wonder what's changed with his confidence? It also shows he's probably not quite ready to play at a significantly higher level but it would still be good to seem him play on loan for a league two side to see if he can make the step up.

I think the game showed why MM sent him out on loan again; he certainly has ability - the first touch for his goal was wonderful - but he is not ready for Championship football, in important business end matches just yet. Up to the goal, he wasn't great in this highlights package, where the overall quality is a million miles from promotion chasing Championship standard. Hopefully he'll comd back a stronger, more determined player and put in a good pre-season, because his game does appear to be all about finishing & a good goalscorer is major asset to a club.

Marriott missed a few but still a great goal, also a goal every other game is good for a young lad at this level so I think he'll be on loan at a League One or Two club next season.
