Bialkowski Talks Continue
Wednesday, 9th Jul 2014 15:40

Town and Notts County are continuing to hold talks regarding keeper Bartosz Bialkowski’s proposed move to the Blues.

The deal looked close to completion towards the end of last week but has stalled in recent days and the Pole remains at Meadow Lane.

County were initially willing to allow the 27-year-old, who has a year left on what is a significant contract for a League One club, to move on a free transfer to free up cash, but are now understood to be after a small fee, while the Blues are determined to keep to the original arrangement.

Earlier in the summer, the Magpies were reported to want a low six-figure sum for the former Southampton man, who was previously on loan with the Blues late on in the 2008/09 season without making a first-team appearance.

Despite the current impasse, it’s likely that the deal will still go through in the next few days — personal terms would appear to be a formality — but perhaps not in time for Bialkowski, who previously worked with Town keeper-coach Malcolm Webster while with the Saints, to join up with the squad in Ireland.

Notts County play their first friendly of pre-season away against East Midlands Counties League side Arnold Town this evening with Bialkowski starting, along with former Blues striker Ronan Murray.

Good work from the board sticking to the original agreement.
If McCarthy really thinks Bialowski is worth getting in then I hope we stick to our guns and negotiate hard.

Perhaps we need to give it a time limit say till Friday then move on. If no-one else is going to pay a fee for him then County have a big decision & if they need to free up wages above all else then I think they may return to original agreement. Feel sorry for the player to be messed about

don't want to be too negative again, and upset the vulnerable, so I'll shut up

Think this will be a good signing. A good keeper at the right price. 1 in midfield, 1 up front and we are set fair. Really really looking forward to the coming season.

do not give in on paying a fee, just offer them a pre-season friendly for the next 3 seasons and then not honour them just like Lazio!!!

Maybe we should've offered Loach to West Ham as a 3rd choice replacement/swap for Henderson?

An agreement is an agreement so I applaud he club sticking to their guns.

On the other side of the coin however, if he is really Micks first choice, then a very small fee doesn't seem unreasonable in order to get the deal done. We will hopefully be competitive when it comes to fees now. I would certainly expect us to sign at east one player for a fee this summer.

Poor business as so often happens in football these days goal posts are being moved. I say stick to the guns if they need to free up the cash its likely for someone they want to bring in. Dilly Dallying may result in them losing their target as well. I agree stick to the guns. We had a deal and now you want to welch? Says its all

The question has to be asked.... Is he good enough for a Town shirt, i,m wondering on that one, not in the Notts County squad? has a bit of a vague career so far?
Would he be our number one or two? i doubt the one position but could and probably will if signed have to cover for Gerks, would that be worrying times? many questions on this chap?

Notts County will have to continue paying his wages until the deal is done, so hopefully they will relent.

It'd be great to get him on a free transfer, and it's refreshing to read "personal terms would appear to be a formality".

.......... don't keep talking .... GET HIM IN ...... probably debating how many peanuts we can afford.

You think I'm joking , but I'm not. Back to the Clegg negotiation process ? - I hope NOT.

.......... we need the / a keeper - they need a 'small' fee - JOB DONE, WHY COMPLICATE SUCH A PATHETIC ISSUE ?

What's a small fee - if MM rates him enough to be of interest ? - we can't expect EVERY player to be a freebie.

Or is that the kind of Club we have become ??????????

Sheffield Wednesday have just signed Kieran Westwood on a free from Sunderland and here we are pissing about trying to sign this no mark!

Just when I thought things were going so well.

People ought to calm down. It makes sense on our side. If we can get him for free, why pay? If Notts are as skint as it appears they'll have to get him off wage bill anyway.

Another huge question would be, if Gerks was injured?

Would you be happy with this guy betwen the sticks on derby day?

I don,t think i would be!!

Too much of an unknown quantity for me, but then again what do i know, not much!!

JWM - agree with most of your post, and I think you are perhaps beginning to understand why I have a cynical side to me !

Only thing is I am not sure about this guy, so reserve judgement about his capabilities - I am working on the principal that MM is interested in him, so hopefully he has something to offer us.

AND WE NEED A KEEPER - post haste.

Why did we not go for Westwood ?? - I'm lost for words for once, and he was our preferred choice a FREEBIE.

If we can't get him then to sign, then there is a 'Brazilian International World Cup Goalie who is desperate for a new club...

Time to drop it and go after Henderson, who is a better keeper, with some vigor then let's go get Williams. I'm sure it can be done.
