Collison Training With Town
Sunday, 17th Aug 2014 09:42

Former West Ham midfielder Jack Collison is training with the Blues in the hope of winning a contract and Frank Nouble is available for loan or permanent move, according to this morning’s tabloids.

As per widespread reports this morning, we understand that Wales international Collison, 25, did join in training at Playford Road last week as he looks to find a new club following his Hammers exit.

Watford-born Collison played youth football with Peterborough and Cambridge before joining West Ham’s set-up.

He made his senior debut in January 2008 and went on to make 87 starts and 34 sub appearances, scoring 14 goals while at Upton Park. The 6ft tall midfielder was on loan at AFC Bournemouth and Wigan last season.

Since leaving West Ham - and writing an open letter to supporters - Collison has spent time on trial at QPR, playing in a number of their pre-season friendlies.

Collison qualifies for Wales via his grandfather and has won 17 full caps without scoring an international goal.

Meanwhile, Blues boss Mick McCarthy is reported to be ready to listen to loan or permanent offers for 22-year-old striker Nouble, following the acquisition of Derby’s Conor Sammon on a season-long loan on Friday.

Nouble, who cost £25,000 when he signed from Wolves in January 2013, was left out of the 18 at Reading yesterday with Sammon making his debut as a sub and Balint Bajner also amongst those appearing from the bench.

Don't rate either player, so mixed news. Think Collison has had chances and not kicked on (hence on the loan carousel just like Noble. Please lets have some players that have a good record in the lower leagues.

Nouble: 4 goals in 56 real appearances (not friendlies) is not good enough for us (got stats from 2 websites so seems accurate).
he's only scored 12 goals total for all clubs (including us) since 2008.
Given his stats, we are going to find it hard to find a loan club for him. Maybe a league 2 club might take a punt, but it's a high risk.

Collison: would love to see him and Garvan in our midfield as options

Good Luck Frank and thanks for you efforts. Hope you find a club that you can get regular games in. Sadly not to be at Ipswich.

It was obvious to many of us more seasoned observers from day one that Nouble was never nor would ever be good enough...the only mystery is why it took MM so long to realise

not sure why Garvan is suggested, he's had his moment with us..... Collison is never fit for more than few games

Wouldn't mind seeing us sign Collison, especially after the poor performances Skuse has been putting in. If Nouble leaves then I wish him well, not good enough sadly

I'm very happy with this. Collison's young, creative and can unlock defence's. I love Frank as a bloke but he's a very poor player in my opinion. I don't think Connor Sammon will be much better though.

Collision would be a great addition, bringing in a young talent who has played at a higher level would be good news as would getting rid of frank who couldn't be further from being a footballer. Would still be nice to see some of the cresswell money spent on a creative midfielder and a prolific, quick striker who can be feared by defences especially as cresswell was our top assister last season.

why does it take the management team so long to see what us fans can see in one half of football

Not gona lie, not seen much of Collison.
As for Nouble anybody whos seen my posts on here before will know ive never rated him from day one but some of the stick he's been getting on twitter over the last few days from "supposed" Town fans is an absolute disgrace. God help us if Didz and Sammon pick up knocks in the next few days, Noubles confidence will be shot to pieces by our own fans.

Every team needs a playmaker, to unlock defences, to hold onto the ball to create.

the worrying thing about noubles departure is that the boo boys will have to pick on someone else.

Collison is a good player from what I have seen. Surprized he is available on a free transfer. Would be a good signing if he can stay injury free
