Refunds on Wigan Tickets
Friday, 29th Aug 2014 21:08

Town are giving refunds to fans who bought match tickets and official coach travel for the Wigan match who will be unable to attend now that it has moved from Saturday 20th September to the following Monday for live Sky coverage.

Supporters wanting to claim a refund should do so in person by taking their tickets to Planet Blue or by posting them to the ticket office.

Match and coach tickets which were purchased for the original game will be valid for the new date.

Maybe they should offer refunds to all season ticket holders who coughed up thinking we would be showing a bit more ambition this season.

What a great gesture from the club

....... this is a typical example of where the fans attendance takes secondary importance to TV yet again - this is not how it should be.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but rearranging this fixture to 22nd September means we're playing at Wigan exactly a year to the day that we played them at the DW last season. Quirky.

In all seriousness though, why was this changed to Monday night? Since when are Championship games screened on Monday nights? Haven't Sky got a Premier League game for Chamberlain, Neville et al do their usual flashy MNF business with? I think many of us might have been okay with it if it had at least stayed a weekend fixture rather than plonking it in the working week.

Autumn Monday evening Championship affair between a Rugby League town vs a team that has had to travel miles, and it's on the telly. Clearly the place will be full to bursting...(!)

Horrible having to rearrange travel and now sort overnighting. Grr. Would be good if Town also (out of their Sky income from the game) reimbursed any fan who had bought a match ticket and had prebought non-changeable train tix.

This is a crazy thread. Why would there ever be the remotest possibility of a non-refund?

boss man. sorry but what an idiot you are. only an idiot would find a reason to be negative to this story. blue041273. get ur pont but guess this had to be put on here so people know. clearly, as you say, a refund was inevitable for this. and lindhi. as for ur train tickets(and also those who had booked hotels)? the club cant be held responsible for those things. wasn't after all their decision to alter the date of the game. unfortunate, and unfair to those people, but something the club should not be expected to put right.

Blues 1 you are missing the point people have good money for trains and hotels only for sky to hijack the fixture just 3 weeks before the game. Did the club stop to think about that. I think not. Calling people names does not help the situation

@blues1 as the self appointed leader of the happy clappy brigade you cheer every move the club makes and if we all blindly followed your example the club would be in a worse state than it is. I accept that I was pushing my luck by making a negative point on a good news thread but right now I am not alone in looking for a good news story of more significance than the club doing exactly what it should. You're right there is nothing negative here nothing to celebrate either.

@Rgp... You are aware that the club didn't move the fixture, so it wasn't really up to them to 'stop and think about that'. I do sympathise with people that have made bookings etc as I've been stung with this before, but it's naive to expect the club to set a precedent of refunding for travel/hotels. You take a gamble when you book early and save money, we all know that there is a risk of this occurring. Rightly or wrongly.

It might well suit the current mood of having a pop at anything coming out of the club at the moment, but it doesn't mean you have to resort to a pop at everything.

What is the difference between pre booking coach travel and pre booking your train fare ?
It is an absolute disgrace the way these matches are changed with no regard for the travelling supporters and the Club then decides to reimburse coach travellers only.
