Tunnicliffe Linked With Return
Monday, 1st Sep 2014 16:25

Town are reported to have renewed their interest in former loanee Ryan Tunnicliffe with Blackburn Rovers also said to be targeting the midfielder. The 21-year-old spent the first half of last season on loan with the Blues from Manchester United before he was sold to Fulham in January.

Having made two starts for the Cottagers, the manager who signed him, his former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen, was sacked.

The Mancunian has featured only once as a sub under his successor Felix Magath and he was sent out on loan to Wigan at the end of January when the Blues also showed interest in bringing him back to Portman Road.

Any move is likely to be a loan with Tunnicliffe contracted until the summer of 2017.

At Thursday's press conference, Blues boss Mick McCarthy said there was the possibility of a player coming in on loan before tonight's 11pm deadline.

The former England U16 and U17 international made 24 starts and five sub appearances in his spell with the Blues without scoring.

What did he do in his few months here to get a 2nd deal? Just get Collison in and use Bru and Bishop more, simple!

The whole system at ITFC is f_cked up! we release players that have flair and skill, we take on loan players that we do not need! we refuse to sell players for obscene amounts of money that we could rebuild the squad with,
We have nil creativity in midfield, nobody knows how to make a forward pass! just bloody boring football, defend defend defend, yeah we are good at that to a point but if you don,t score you don,t win!
Said it before when MM was appointed we could have had Holloway instead, i was in the minority wanting Holly, really wish we had him, it would have been fun at Portman rd wether we won or not! Tuuny on loan? .........whats the point?

....... Tunnicliffe is just MM's type of player as we know - so this doesn't surprise me one bit.

Enthralled at the thought ? - absolutely not - too many of this type of player already.

FLAIR and CREATIVITY is what we need - so in the absence of being able to bring that in - BRING IN OUR OWN YOUNGSTERS - and bite the bullet.
They wouldn't let us down, as has been proved when they have played, mostly having had the opportunity by default, over choice, to prove themselves.

An average Championship player who cannot get into a very poor Championship team. What would he add?

runningout you beat me to it. Apparently Tootle is having a medical as we speak. Gradi reckons he's capable of playing championship football. He's a right back by the way.

Blackburn can have him we don't need another defensive midfielder. What about Williams now that Warnock has taken over

If you guys are correct about the right back then thats the most exciting deadline day news we've had in years! Better than tunnecrap anyway

We've signed a right back? Must mean the writing's on the wall for Elliot Hewitt, a shame - I thought he'd got a future here.
As for Tunnicliffe, I'd rather we didn't make any midfield additions.

rather play teddy bishop than tunnicliffe , what do we need him for?

Jimmy86 added 18:30 - Sep 1
Dont need him, our midfield doesn't score enough goals or create anything of note chances wise as it is. 30 odd appearances for us, no goals and no assists really either.

We will sell McGoldrick and with the money from that sale and that of Cresswell we will sign Johnny Williams and Connor Wickham on permanent deals.

(N.b. I am drinking.)

Bllueboy, remind me. Who did MM play in centre mid at the weekend? Was it young Bishop by any chance? Selective memory as usual.

To be fair he never got played in his favoured /best position while he was with us so not really surprised he didn't want to come back . Fulham played him in his preferred central role and he had a few really good games for them in the prem last season . Wouldn't be to disappointed if we got him back but wouldn't want to see him shoved out wide again . That said , I would still rather see Teddy Bishop given a fair chance as I think this kid may have something a little bit special about him .
