Sky Switch Leads to Change of Plan for Hunts
Sunday, 21st Sep 2014 16:03

Winger Stephen Hunt has revealed that the decision to move Town’s game at Wigan to Monday for live Sky coverage led to a change of plan for him and his wife.

Writing in his regular column in the Irish Sunday Independent Hunt said: “Joanne had decided to be induced today, but a couple of weeks ago Sky announced that our game against Wigan, which was meant to be played yesterday, was being moved to the Monday night.

“My family come first, Joanne knows that, but when you're [33] and trying to come back from injury and maybe get a place on the bench, it's good to be available.

“It might surprise people, but I know what not to say and when I told Joanne that the game had been moved, I didn't say anything. Joanne understood and now she will be induced on Tuesday, so I can be available for tomorrow night's game, live on Sky Sports.

“None of this will make any difference to Mick McCarthy's decision, so I might not be picked at all, but I will be ready and available for Ipswich Town and I will be available in Wexford General Hospital the next day.”

I'm really looking forward to Hunt getting back to fitness with us, think he will have an important part to play this season. Everyone talks about his positive influence on the dressing room but on the pitch as well I think he could provide us with something different.

When was the last time we had strength in depth like we do now? Not since the premiership days I think.

Good luck to him. Personally, family first. Having been honoured with our first child back in June, I can fully understand, but family before work for me!

Non story really. Of course he needs to put his wife and her welfare first. Even the suggestion that he might be putting his future on the line is abhorrent. We are all reasonable people and we would not feel let down if he supported his wife on baby arrival day instead of sitting on the bench at Wigan. No amount of goals can possibly equal that magic moment of the birth of your own child. Good luck Stephen!

Itfchorry, I have put posts on this site long enough to expect a degree of criticism but why would my post merit a minus rating? Please explain.

Lets hope he is wasting his time. He should never have been given a contract and should not get near the bench, let alone first 11. But, hes Micks mate...

Why not take really extended paternity leave Hunt?....Please?

Give the guy a break, or even better...................keep your insults to yourselves!
