Chaplow Training With Town
Monday, 16th Feb 2015 14:59

Millwall midfielder Richard Chaplow is training with the Blues with a view to joining Mick McCarthy’s squad on loan.

The 30-year-old has fallen out of favour at the Den with the last of his 10 appearances this season having come in Millwall’s 4-0 FA Cup replay defeat at Bradford City a month ago.

According to News at Den, Chaplow will spend the week with the Blues, having been told he will not be offered new terms when his current Lions deal is up at the end of the season and that he is free to find himself a new club.

Chaplow started his career with Burnley before moving on to West Brom in 2005. The Accrington-born midfielder spent time on loan at Southampton while a Baggies player, prior to joining Preston in 2008.

Another spell on loan with the Saints followed in 2010, before he made the switch more permanent in January 2011.

A former England U19, U20 and U21 international, Chaplow moved to Millwall initially on loan in March 2013, signing a two-year deal with the Lions that summer after his Southampton contract was terminated.

Meanwhile, former Blues striker Danny Haynes is on trial with League One Scunthorpe having left Notts County by mutual consent in December. The 27-year-old recently spent time training with Gillingham.

Not very exciting , given that we already have Bish, Bru and Skuse doing good jobs in there and he doesn't appear to have an amazing goals record.

If he's not going to cost us anything to loan and won't mind being a squad player, we might as well go for it.

seems odd, certainly no JW, as said goals to games ratio not great and I dont know what he would bring other than strenght in depth that we dont have already.

As always though Mick gets benifit of the doubt .

He looks like a scary b***ard though so maybe he will just scream at the opposition.

Thought we were tring to sign John-Joe Shelvey for the minute looking at the photo. Chaplow was a good player once but way past his best and no better than what we have. Lets get Martin, Garvan and Upson back as well...not!

@ ITFC1985..... Micks record of signing players so far is so good all you can say is if he want's him he will certainly do a specific job for us.

Just hope he's doing the rounds anf will go elsewhere but NOT PR. I don't think he's any better than we have already in the midfield plus if he's not good enough for Millwall why!!

"Micks record of signing players so far is so good " really?
MM has signed about 10 players this season and they haven't got 90mins or a goal between all 10 of them.

Are some of you actually serious? @Walberswicks - Are you saying MM didn't sign Hunt? Everyone questioned the N Hunt signing, then he scores 3 in about 30mins on the pitch! I don't think Chaplow is the best player in the world but he's experienced and he'd do a job, especially with some big games coming up.

Worth a punt. Who saw Noel Hunt doing well?

Why dont we here anything about Jonny Williams anymore.

Know he is a sicknote but bucks up our team when he is fit to play.

Seems like beggars cant be choosers but it seems odd that Marcus faced with the prospect for the first time since he took over in 2007 of getting his money back is penny piching to this extent..

Walberswick do you ever talk sense or say anything good about this team, Parr has scored 2 noel hunt has scored 3 and sears has scored 1 plus the young bishop who is a long way from being 30 has a goal to his name.

This fellah used to be seriously good and if we can light his fire just what we may need to get over the line----certainly better than some in our midfield and would give us a lot more if fit and atitude right.

@Walberswicks ....you also seem to think it's essential to sign a player under 30?
Why don't we just sell the divisions top scorer then?? He's 31....must be useless...
