Chaplow Training With Town
Monday, 16th Feb 2015 14:59

Millwall midfielder Richard Chaplow is training with the Blues with a view to joining Mick McCarthy’s squad on loan.

The 30-year-old has fallen out of favour at the Den with the last of his 10 appearances this season having come in Millwall’s 4-0 FA Cup replay defeat at Bradford City a month ago.

According to News at Den, Chaplow will spend the week with the Blues, having been told he will not be offered new terms when his current Lions deal is up at the end of the season and that he is free to find himself a new club.

Chaplow started his career with Burnley before moving on to West Brom in 2005. The Accrington-born midfielder spent time on loan at Southampton while a Baggies player, prior to joining Preston in 2008.

Another spell on loan with the Saints followed in 2010, before he made the switch more permanent in January 2011.

A former England U19, U20 and U21 international, Chaplow moved to Millwall initially on loan in March 2013, signing a two-year deal with the Lions that summer after his Southampton contract was terminated.

Meanwhile, former Blues striker Danny Haynes is on trial with League One Scunthorpe having left Notts County by mutual consent in December. The 27-year-old recently spent time training with Gillingham.

Now now Walberswick don't go crabbing again.

Again we have nothing to lose, Mick will work him over and if he's up to the job, then he'll stay on loan, if he proves to be better than what we've got, we'll sign him for nowt. It's the Ipswich way, isn't it? Mick works with the tools given, much to his credit.

Hello walberswick.
Good AWAY WIN at Fulham wasn't it?
Did you enjoy the game?
Goals by Hunt,Sears,Parr,Ambrose(and Sammon and Williams) now all credited to someone else then are they?

..... a couple of seasons back this would have been a seriously good signing, not so much now I'm afraid.

Would much prefer to see JW return and added to our squad - however he does seem to have become somewhat injury prone. Let's hope he out grows it, he has enormous potential, but needs to play regularly to realise his true potential.

I personally think this is a great one. He's clearly not getting games at Millwall. When he used to play for Southampton, he was brilliant and often provided that creative link between the front two and midfield.

Every bugger's been crying out for more creative midfielders since the new year, well, here's one that cost nowt and could do the job. Welcome Chappers, pay no attention to the slack-jawed comments from kids on half-term above.

I remember everyone moaning about NH. Hes got us 6 pts this season. Ive never seen this guy, but I'm sure MM and TC will be better at assessing him than any of us! A) Lets see if he is actually signed, B) Lets judge him on performances C) Lets actually be positive and support the side, as this is the best season for 10 years!

WindsorBlue-Not everyone moaned about NH, the more sensible among us said something like "lets wait and see but we are sure MM knows what he is doing"
Same applies here or with anyone else MM wants to add to squad.

McCarthy and his coaching team have a talent for getting the best out of players whose careers are drifting or who are underappreciated (or wrongly used) elsewhere.

I'm going to wait and see if he signs, then how he does on the pitch before passing judgement.

The positive from this is the fact that Mick is looking to strengthen for the run-in. Who really knows Chaplows situation just because he isn't in the Millwall side doesn't mean he isn't good enough. Oldie can be a strange character.

As for Wobbleswick he is just gutted we have Mick, he used to post much more of his Norwich negativity in the Keane & PJ eras, but now find himself looking up at us in the table - Priceless. Let's all give him the silent treatment from now on & don't even minus his posts.

According to " News At Den"! . I know MM has Millwall connections but until I see this or any other player with the Town Shirt and the contract( permanent or temporary) in his hand It would appear premature to comment.
Agree that for the final push a couple of new faces might just help, preferably a striker as although N Hunt has contributed, in my opinion he is not a suitable replacement should the unpalatable occur and Murphy is ruled out for any 90 minutes.

Warkys_Tash-Well in that case walberswicks will see ITFC play once then, with his mates in yella & grin.

Blueboy, no mistake with buttons, new approach, trying to be objective and not pre-judge posts by names.....don't know how long it will last, but will try!!!!

Chaplow was very highly regarded. OK he seems to have drifted but if anyone can restore him to past glories then its MM. As for him being past it or a has been as some are suggesting on here, he is a year younger than Daryl Murphy who of course he's been pants since he turned 30.

Millwall fans do not rate him. Think he's probably well past his best.....

Nothing wrong with just looking at him, it'd be great if we had more just come and train with us. If Mick then likes then and thinks they're good enough - then we sign them, if not then it's cost us nothing!!

LancsBlue is right he was once thought to be a good player, not making the Milwall team now suggests otherwise, but then again haven't nearly all of our players been determined not good enough by some of their previous club(s)?
