McCarthy Makes Four Changes
Wednesday, 4th Mar 2015 19:21

Town boss Mick McCarthy has made his promised changes with strike pair Daryl Murphy and Freddie Sears amongst those dropping to the bench.

Chris Wood and ex-Leeds striker Luke Varney are handed their full Blues debuts with Paul Anderson and Jonny Parr starting on the right and left of midfield respectively and Kevin Bru and Richard Chaplow amongst the subs.

Cameron Stewart - who was on loan with the Whites last season - and Paddy Kenny, a former Leeds keeper, Kundai Benyu and Alex Henshall also made the trip but are left out of the 18. Ex-Whites striker Noel Hunt, who is on crutches and expected to be out for the season due to his medial knee ligament injury, was also amongst those to travel.

Leeds: Silvestri, Wootton, Bamba, Bellusci, Cooper, Byram, Cook, Murphy, Mowatt, C Taylor, Sharp. Subs: S Taylor, Berardi, Sloth, Doukara, Antenucci, Cani, Morison.

Town: Bialkowski, Chambers (c), Mings, Berra, Smith, Skuse, Tabb, Anderson, Parr, Varney, Wood. Subs: Gerken, Clarke, Chaplow, Connolly, Bru, Sears, Murphy. Referee: Mark Brown (East Yorkshire).

Has TABB got mm wife hostage or something?
This can be the only reason. If mick don't play him, Tabb is gonna give him his missus back!!!!

I almost get it:

1. Smith has to play because MM can't put Parr at right back because everyone would then know how stupid MM has been to play Chambers there nearly all season.

2. He can't keep Sears in the team because he is showing the rest of them up!

3. Murphy needs a rest?

4. Tabb must play because........... No, I give up.

Has it occurred to any one else that Benyu,Henshall and Stewart who are all exciting players travelled but did get on bench. At least Connolly,Bru and Sears are on the bench;but what must Freddie think of his Managers decision. If he has rested Murphy then he should also rest Berra and captain Chambers at some stage as they have also played nearly every game.

All I will say is he'd better get a result otherwise he's going to get slaughtered!

If he gets a win he'll be a tactical genius.

Football...... Drive's us all to drink!

At least Wigan have got off to a good start...

Why are most of you so negative? in 11 games in 2015, Murphy's only scored in 3, and has certainly been a shadow of his pre-Xmas self lately, so a bit of a breather isn't the end of the world. Why not give two players with a lot to prove a go in Wood and Varney? Seem to remember everyone slating a certain Noel Hunt before the Millwall game, but he shut you lot up pretty quick with two goals!

I was as cross as anyone following the Norwich debacle on Sunday, but a draw tonight puts us back in the top 6, with it still all in our hands. No, it hasn't been the free flowing, high tempo stuff of late we are all hoping for, but I for one would take unpretty, scrappy football resulting in a top 6 finish, than sticking keep banging our heads against a brick wall putting the same XI out each week. We've got a strong squad, and once McGoldrick et al are back from injury, it'll give us even more options.

NorwichBlue138 we should still be aiming for top 2. Not a point at Leeds. Automatic promotion shouldn't be given up on yet.

68 posts for a starting line up!! - has to be a record, saw the team line up and can see why, hopefully second half we will come good, for Mick's sake!

........ I really don't think this man cares a toss ............ he'll do anything to alienate, and go against people's opinion.

How can there be any other explanation for this team selection ?

Bonkers team choice - stubborn team choice with the usual failings - Tabb Anderson and Smith.

Didn't think sensible changes would be made. We weren't setup for a win here.

Did someone give MM the sorting hat from the Harry Potter films to pick the team!!!

2015 not going to be our year. Team selection suggests hes lost it.

Sorry but Mick's really starting to p155 me off with his inability to see that Parr should be our Right back and Chambers needs moving into the centre instead of Smith.

To drop Sears tonight is just the most ridiculous decision he's made yet..to start Varney instead is beyond me?!

Seriously losing my faith in Mick after tonight.
