Williams Can't Wait to Get Started
Friday, 27th Mar 2015 10:42

Returning loanee Jonny Williams says he can’t wait to get started having rejoined the Blues for a third spell from Crystal Palace yesterday.

The 21-year-old, whose Palace team-mate Zeki Fryers also moved to Town on loan yesterday, recently returned to training having been out of action since suffering the groin injury which ended his second spell at the club in the 1-0 victory over Watford in November.

“The last five months have been very tough but the support I’ve had from fans during that period has been special,” he told the club site.

“I’m delighted to be back at Ipswich and I can’t wait to get back out on the pitch again. I really enjoyed my last two spells here and I’m looking forward to starting my third.

“The boys are doing really well and I’m hoping I can contribute wherever possible in this promotion push.

“They’re a great bunch of lads and I’m looking forward to working with them and the staff again. I just can’t wait to get started now.”

With clubs unable to take players on two emergency loans in the same campaign, Williams is restarting this season’s earlier loan at the point he suffered the injury.

We understand he has 53 days of the maximum 93 remaining which will take him to the play-off semi-finals but means he would miss the final if Town make it to Wembley.

Williams looks set to make his third debut for the Blues when AFC Bournemouth are at Portman Road on Good Friday, probably from the bench given his recent fitness problems.

Town fought off reported interest from Wolves, Fulham and Watford to sign the Wales international midfielder for the third time.

The fact that he came here instead of Wolves, Fulham and Watford especially, shows he obviously loves playing here. I'm a bit more optimistic about our chances now if we can get him fully fit and in the starting 11.

Here's hoping he has another really good spell here at town!

COYB!!!

We finally signed Murphy permanently after his third loan spell with us and he has just gone on to have his fittest and most successful season. Here's to hoping history repeats itself with Jonny Williams!

I love that photo of him!

He obviously loves being at Town and I know the other players get on really well with him. Great that he didn't want Wolves, Fulham or Watford (why would he want Watford?!).

I can't wait to see him wearing the blue shirt again. Shame he wouldn't be able to play in the play-off final but we are going to end up in the top 2 anyway so it won't matter!

After reading this time yesterday that we were unlikely to sign anyone, I am doubly delighted to see Williams returning and Fryers joining too.

I expect Williams for us and Kenwyne Jones for Bournemouth will make their debuts Good Friday, at least from the bench.

I just hope he can get 100% fit quickly and stay that way. We can't pin all our hopes on him when he's been injured for 5 months. If he can show the form from his first spell then I can't wait to see how we finish. Murphy, Sears and McGoldrick with service from Williams should get plenty of goals!

To be fair he was never going to Watford surely seeing he was literally kicked off the pitch by the majority of their players. Can't wait for Bournemouth game now will be interesting to see what happens with mcgoldrick though.

Bart
Chambers Berra Smith Parr
Bru Skuse Tabb
Williams OR Bishop
Murphy Sears

Gerks
Clarke / Fryers
Williams or Bishop
CONNOLLY or Ando
Wood or Varney
2 others from the options above !

For me tabb keeps his place PRECICELY because he puts in a shift as a defensive midfielder - playing with three up front means the midfield 3 have to be tight - clearly if we are chasing the game he has to go for Connolly etc

This assumes MacGoldrick is unfit - if not he should be on the bench for AFCB and playing after that!

Is there a reason why we've only signed him up to the play-off semis and not the final (if we get there)..?

Really glad to see Joniesta back!!

There seems to be lots of doubt regarding David McGoldrick at the moment.

Loads of supposition and rumours seem to be abounding w.r.t D McG.
I am worried that all this talk may well unsettle him, when in all honesty, he is probably happy at ITFC.

So happy about all this! So glad jonny's back again.

Personally, if all were fit, I would love to see this team:

Bart
Parr Chambers Berra Mings
Skuse
Bru/Tabb Williams Bishop
McGoldrick
Sears Murphy

Lots of options or possibilities now though with Connolly able to come on with Hunt or Ando as wingers and change the system around or Smith to go on and 3 CB's if need be and take one of the front three off. Its quite interchangeable! COYBs!!!!

Very pleased to welcome you back Jonny. I imagine that ME, MM and TC discussed this weeks ago but left it till now to get maximum games out of Joniesta. We have simply not heard about it as we know MM does not talk about these things he just does it. So refreshing after our previous rudderless anchormen. Really optimistic and massively excited about our run in now. My wife thinks I'm having an affair because I can't stop smiling. COYB.
