Cardiff Targeting Murphy Claim
Tuesday, 26th May 2015 11:52

Cardiff City boss Russell Slade is keen to sign Town’s 27-goal Championship top scorer Daryl Murphy this summer, according to a report.

WalesOnline claims Murphy is one of Slade’s main summer targets as the Bluebirds look to return to the Premier League at the second time of asking following their relegation a year ago.

However, any attempt to sign the 32-year-old Irish international seems likely to end in failure with the striker having said he and his family are settled in Suffolk on a number of occasions this season.

The Waterford-born frontman signed a new contract with the Blues last summer, which currently has another year left to run, while the club have an option to extend it for a further season.

Speaking shortly after the end of the campaign, manager Mick McCarthy reiterated Town’s determination to keep hold of their more coveted players.

Walesonline is obviously desperate for a headline.

This is a total non-runner.

Haha why would Murphy want to go to such an unstable club which finished much lower than us this season. His family are settled in the area, clearly likes playing for the club, just had his best season ever in his career. Slade probably won't be there after a few months with Vincent Tan in charge. Jog on Cardiff

Can I stop laughing now. We would be fecking mad to sell the Championships top scorer. I'm sure there will be new additions to freshen up the squad for our top 6 finish next season. Once again thanks to Mick & TC for a great season.

Daryl Murphy has bought a house in Ipswich just round the corner from me. This transfer will not happen in a month of Sundays.

I have no fears whatsoever of Murph leaving us for any other Championship club. IF a PL club comes in for him, at 32yrs of age I would wish him well at his shot at the higher level before he retires.

The real test for Murph will be next seaskn with us. Was this goal scoringbfeat just a one season wonder, or has TC really made a difference to his all round game. I hope the latter is true.

I can't see Murphy moving on. Whether he will be as prolific next season remains to be seen.

For me, Mings is most likely to leave, followed by McGoldrick, then Bishop. Hopefully we can retain all of these players, spend some money to build on last year, by adding some quality in midfield.

He certainly wont be going to any other championship club, if he moves it will be upwards not backwards :)

After 27 goals I'd be surprised if there wasn't interest in him but barring an unlikely multi million pound move to the premier league he'll be at Portman Road next season.

Why would they think that would even be an option 😂 if a premier league club came in for him, at 32 and decent money, I think they'd let him have his chance but Cardiff??? Haha

At 32 will he score as many next season as he did this, probably not? But on his day, he is a handful for any defender. We will need to score from all over the place next season, which means we really need, in reality, at least one other top striker, but whether we can afford one will be another matter! Two decent wingers to supply the ammo would be great as well!

Daryl has been my favorite player since I first saw him at Ipswich in his initial loan spell, with him, Freddy and David we will have a powerful strike force next season, let's hope we can keep them all.

Hahaha what an amazing rumour. Next we'll be using the cash from the Murphy sale to bring Chopra back to the club. Bless those taffs!
