Murphy "Top of Cardiff Wish List"
Wednesday, 3rd Jun 2015 10:19

Welsh reports continue to link Cardiff City with a summer move for Town’s 27-goal Championship top scorer Daryl Murphy.

Claims that Bluebirds boss Russell Slade is keen to sign Murphy first surfaced a week ago and now WalesOnline reports that the Irish international is top of the Cardiff manager’s close season wish list as he looks to take the Welsh club back into the Premier League at the second attempt, having finished 11th in 2014/15.

Slade is said to have been given owner Vincent Tan’s backing to move for Murphy, who some sources elsewhere claim is also interesting Fulham, with Cardiff believing an offer of £4 million might be enough to tempt Town into parting with the former Waterford, Sunderland and Celtic striker.

However, Murphy has repeatedly stated that he has no intention of leaving Town as he and his family are settled in Suffolk, while manager Mick McCarthy and owner Marcus Evans have said they are determined to keep hold of the Blues' key players this summer.

Murphy, who is currently away with the Ireland squad, signed a new contract with Town last July, which currently has another year left to run, while the club have an option to extend it for a further season.

No ArnieM I'm not a troll just stated a few facts. We are not a bigger club than Cardiff.
These are facts Arnie stating facts does not make you a troll: Bigger population (330k v 180k), more recently in the Prem, owner wealth (USD 1.3bn vs £750m). Our stadiums are similar in size and despite our relative success last year they actually had a slightly higher average attendance than us.
I'm not saying they are better, just we are not the MUCH BIGGER club you think we are. We are in fact pretty much the same size as Cardiff. Our history and tradition is way, way better but that's the past.
If you want to say I talk tripe fair enough - from you that's a compliment.
I happen to think Murph if (and it is a big if) ME decides to sell will want to take the cheque from Cardiff because he has not long left to play he needs to think about his financial future and if we sell it will tell him that we are not really going to invest in the team. Murph only gets to chose if ME decides to sell.
I'd like him to stay and we'd be idiots to sell, but we've sold our best players often enough before now for it not to be certain.

Just cannot believe how naive some fans are - players careers are relatively short, career progression, achievement, and money IS all important to them.

Loyalty, and 'love for a Club' as some put it - is extremely rare in todays game. That was all in a bygone era unfortunately.

The game has changed people - not necessarily for the better, by far, in my opinion.

..... don't expect much in the way of signings for sometime yet, we'll wait until the best in terms of availability have been hoovered up by other Clubs - then we'll see what's left amongst the scrag ends, and make our moves.

There will be no one happier than I - if I'm proved wrong - BUT that is yet to happen.

blueboy-I may be "interpreting" your above post incorrectly, but if not,are you saying that you have never been proved wrong?
If that IS what you saying, that is quite a claim for anyone to make.

Ha, ha Cardiff. Who said they are bigger than us? NO THEY ARE NOT & NEVER WILL BE! They are living off the back of one quick forage into the top flight.

Anyway, who in their right mind would want to go play for that joke of a club with that manager & owner at the helm? One is an 'odd ball' the other 'Hoof ball' - I leave it up to you to guess which is which!

However, I can't see Town turning down £4M but age 32,or not considering Grabban went for £4M & McCormack £11M(!) if he does go let's screw them hard. We could then go find the next Callum Wilson.. or maybe we will get Chris Wood to replace on a free?

Like most, I wouldn't want Murph to leave but we have also seen before the past 2seasons how average he can be..

Come on let be realistic Cardiff cant afford nothing much let look at it this way they had to ship out jones in my opinion a much better striker cause they couldn't afford the wages so with the others they have on prem wages they will be loaning them out again to lower wage bill if they cant sell em
