Patterson Nominated for U20 World Cup Goal of the Tournament Wednesday, 24th Jun 2015 12:24 Academy midfielder Monty Patterson’s goal in New Zealand’s 5-1 win against Myanmar in Wellington earlier this month is in the running to be named the FIFA U20 World Cup Goal of the Tournament. The tournament hosts came from behind to secure their first ever victory at the finals with 18-year-old Patterson netting their vital second goal two minutes after the restart. The New Zealand youngsters were beaten 2-1 by Portugal in the round of 16 having achieved their pre-tournament aim of reaching the knockout phase. Serbia went on to win the competition beating Brazil - who defeated the Portuguese in the quarter-finals - 2-1 after extra-time in Saturday's final in Auckland.
