Patterson Facing Six Months Out
Thursday, 13th Aug 2015 14:45

Young midfielder Monty Patterson will undergo surgery on his dislocated ankle on Monday and is facing up to six months on the sidelines.

The New Zealand U23 and U20 international suffered the injury after coming on as a sub during the Town U21 side’s 2-1 win at Leeds on Tuesday.

The 18-year-old fell awkwardly and was treated for several minutes on the pitch before being stretchered off just after the hour mark.

He underwent a scan on Wednesday, which has confirmed that the injury isn’t as bad as initially feared, but will still mean the Auckland-born youngster will be out of action until early next year.

Poor lad. At least not as bad as first thought so hopefully not career - threatening. Reckon he'll be training again by Christmas. Best wishes Monty.

Great shame for him he has shown great promise in the recent tournament with N.Z and has progressed into the under 21's on his return, just shows what can happen to any player at any time!! keep yer chin up Monty and come back and keep progressing.

Shame it wasn't just a leg break, would have been back much quicker. What on earth did they think it was originally to be worse?!?!
