McCarthy Makes Four Changes at Forest
Saturday, 24th Oct 2015 14:19

Town boss Mick McCarthy has made four changes ahead of today’s game at Nottingham Forest, with David McGoldrick, Cole Skuse, Freddie Sears and Ainsley Maitland-Niles all starting.

The Blues are set to line up in a 4-3-3 formation with McGoldrick - like skipper Luke Chambers a former Forest player - and Sears either side of Daryl Murphy. It's the first time the trio of strikers have all started a game since Sears signed in January.

Giles Coke, Jonathan Douglas, Larsen Touré and Jonny Parr all drop to the bench.

Former Town midfielder Liam Trotter is handed his debut for Forest having joined on loan from Bolton earlier today, while ex-Blues loanee Jonny Williams is also in the Tricky Trees’ midfield.

Nottingham Forest: De Vries, Lichaj, Wilson (c), Hobbs, Pinillos, Trotter, Williams, Mendes, Ward, Oliveira. Subs: Evtimov, Blackstock, Burke, O’Grady, Walker, Grant, Iacovitti.

Town: Gerken, Chambers (c), Smith, Berra, Knudsen, Skuse, Bru, Maitland-Niles, Sears, Murphy, McGoldrick. Subs: Bialkowski, Malarczyk, Parr, Douglas, Coke, Touré, Pitman. Referee: Paul Tierney (Lancashire).

While I agree I love the attacking nature of our line up and I think that will win it for us today! The defence still worries me! We won't keep a clean sheet but we will score enough to win!!!

Skuse and Bru together in centre-mid. About flipping time!

Better looking team and glad Douglas has finally been dropped. Hopefully with more of an attacking looking line up we'll score and we'll need to as still the same back line continues. Fancy at least a point today (fingers crossed).

Happy with attitude towards winning, but totally fathomed how Parr doesn't play in defence, McCarthy just won't change those 3 centre backs!!!!! Our very own Achilles heel!

My concern is that the whole defence seem more shaky when Gerken is behind them

MM has nothing to lose now. Results can't be worse, if we don't win he can say "told you so", and if we win, well.... we win.

Apart from his pride I guess. He could lose that.

So Mick has finally listened to the fans? Still think the defence needs a shake up... we rarely get much at this ground but hopefully there are goals in this team,( if they get the service) a shock win on the cards!!

Of four players dropped I only feel sorry for Jonathan Parr who could replace either full back and strengthen team.Neither Chambers or Knudsen had good games on Tuesday

However neither did Jonny;but he was being played out of positon.I knew Chambers wouldn't be dropped especially as being against his old team.

Talking about playing against previous employers,we have two on either side today;but lets hope our two come out on top,as would hate to see Trotter and Williams score against us as Jordan Rhodes and Brucey have already this season.

At least with rest of team picked doesn't look like Mick quite rightly wont be 'parking the bus'.Douglas has at last been dropped and Kevin Bru and Didsy starting shows that we should see a bit of football this afternoon.Still worried about Gerken though.

^ Don't think Mick listen's to the fans. Not what he is paid for. If he did Chambers would be dropped

Martlesham - I think we claim too much credit and give Mick too little.
One thing you can be certain of is that Mick has NOT listened to any fans - I honestly think he would walk if supporter ME started influencing his team selection - but he is changing the team (a) because his chosen team is now fit and/or (b) because he knows that he needs to try something new

If he was listening to fans it would be Bart in goal (or a new one!) and only 2 CBs in the back four!

I agree - we could well win today and start something .... we are better than our past 6 games have shown.
