McCarthy, Connor and Milne at Tonight's Supporters Club AGM
Thursday, 29th Oct 2015 09:29

This season's Supporters Club AGM takes place this evening in Legends Bar and will once again take the form of an open evening with fans having a chance to meet and question management representing many areas of the club's activities, both off-field and on-field, including boss Mick McCarthy, his assistant Terry Connor and MD Ian Milne.

Also attending will be club secretary and supporters liaison officer Sally Webb, finance director Mark Andrews, director of academy sales Simon Milton - who will host the question and answer session - director of sales Rosie Richardson and media manager Steve Pearce.

Liz Edwards, chair of the Supporters Club, commented: "I'm really pleased that ITFC recognised how successful this event was last year and are supporting it again.

“It's a great chance for fans to meet, talk with and question the people who are responsible for the running of the club, including managing director Ian Milne, club secretary and supporter liaison officer Sally Webb, as well as representatives from many other areas. Fantastic too that Mick and Terry will join us - it's always a lively session."

Doors open 7pm for a prompt 7.30pm start. The evening also includes the formal business of the Supporters Club AGM, so evidence of membership will need to be shown at the door: season ticket or Silver/Ambassador/Junior Blues club cards. Please contact Liz Edwards via officialitsc@btinternet.com if you're unsure if you qualify.

TWTD will be covering the AGM live on the forum.

I doubt very much if mm will be answering questions in team selection. But milne certainly needs to be asked about the recruitment policy of a championship club with supposedly ambitions of the premier league

Would love to know why we have not signed a specialist right back.

On many occasions MM has stated that he will not bend to the opinions of fans, so there is no point in asking him why he is the only person that believes our captain can make an effective right back. Instead I would suggest that somebody ask him for a guarantee that Luke will always play there and that next season he will be given the number 2 shirt. Try a little reverse psychology on the loon.

This should be an entertaining and lively evening chat. I'll bring my popcorn.

Hopefully Milne won't be able to get away with the usual spin and will be challenged on recruitment policy. This summer we were left behind by some distance, despite the Mings millions and vast savings on the wages of several players leaving. Please don't let him get away with money invested on wages nonsense. I sincerely hope and indeed suspect the likes of Coke and Toure were extremely cheap. At least they should be! Need assurances that the money will finally be reinvested in January or if not, at least be honest rather than the usual Evans is investing in players rubbish.

Any question can be asked. Last year's format was MM and TC first and a second part with the panel members. I hogged the floor last year with my questions so will probably give it a miss tonight and give others a chance. I'd probably lose my temper with them all if go. Not only that, it would take me three weeks to explain to them what I think they are doing wrong at the moment.

Just need 'Statler and Waldorf' there, and it would complete the show...

If anyone is going tonight and wants some questions in their back pocket should they be feeling brave, i'd like some of these posed to him. Should be interesting!

1- One of the greatest and most celebrated British football managers once said, "players lose you games, not tactics...". Is this a statement you agree with?

2 - "A lot of football success is in the mind. You must believe you are the best and then make sure that you are." - Given our recent slump in form, what methods do the management employ to instill Shankly's philosophy into the mindset of players playing below par?

3 - Bill Nicholson stated that, "it is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low". Given that you have both done such a great job in stabilising our club, can we now see the management kick on to the next level and live up to this mantra by continually setting up sides to attack teams away from home as well as just being difficult to beat?

1st question:
Exactly what chores do Chambers, Smith, Gerken and Douglas carry out at McCarthy Towers to ensure continually getting picked, out of position in the first two instances?
2:
Have you ever signed a rightback in your life?
3:
Has Johnny Parr murdered a McCarthy family pet to be treated the way he is?

Am going again this year, even though I do not live in the County.
These Q&A's at supporters do's and Shareholders AGM's tend to be tame affairs on the whole with quite a bit of mutual back slapping going on.
In the past if someone asks an awkward question there is often a murmur of disapproval from a lot of the gathering;so perhaps it is this, and the easy going attitude of Suffolk folks explains why the club officials get such an easy ride.

May be a bit more interesting this year perhaps;but like moving Chambers from right back and Gerken out of goal,am not expecting it to be much different.

I can understand the RB issue the main problem was we spent so much time trying to get a cheap deal for McGee left us very little time to replace him with, and the likes of Nathen byrne gets bought a few days later for an initial fee of about 400k up front, which would have made a massive difference with pace and attacking threat from RB. think we was left behind and was too keen for one player which never panned out leaving us little time and we ending up with a bargain buy cause we paniced and it never works with a panic buying. But we do need a proper RB whether its bought or developed but still the priority for us moving forward we have to get cat1 academy as then we can attract better class of young players and a few years down the line would save us money and give us a better standard of player.

Essexbluey.I too am from your County.

Liz Edwards has always been an Ipswich supporter, and her family is from Suffolk. It was her husband Tim(think that's his name)who supported Spurs;and naturally as a married couple they like to do things together, especially as they both live and work in the City .

One poster asks that someone tonight lets them know what we are all thinking. That just about sums up why clubs take little notice of fan web sites. We DO NOT all think the same. We do not all think that Gerks is a rotten goal keeper, that MM has lost the plot etc. What does bind us though is our collective support for our club and that means even though a few things may appear obvious to us, it may not be so viewed through the eyes of others. In other words rather than divide supporters with biased comments and blogs, let's see this rough patch through. If we are where we are at Christmas that's the time for supporters to collectively show what we think but not to be personal about it.

I would love to ask Mick if he saw Middlesbrough beat united at old Trafford last night, ok it was on penalties but Boro put out their best side and knocked Utd out. Mick rested his usual 11 for that game to concentrate on a 'big' league game against Bristol city and we have won 2 points since then, makes me wonder if denying the first team a run out at old Trafford has damaged their motivation.

@Bert. Gerken is Bobbins, fact! Stats back it up.
And if he doesnt pick his favourites in the wrong positions then the only explanation is he's blind.
Judging by social media, talking to other fans around town and what gets said at the match id say 90% of fans think Bart is a better keeper based on what we've all seen and that Chambers and Smith playing out of position is costing us big time. We cant all be wrong.

If you think MM will discuss selections with the fans, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed.

Anybody with the absolute barefaced affrontery to ask why the manager persists with the selection of an unbalanced back4 and a keeper who causes panic in the aforementioned and have the cheek to mention "favourites" in the same sentence will be promptly arrested for a public disorder offence and removed!!! never mind asking why Chambers is playing right back( he's the skipper he's got to play! well put him up front out of the way!!) and both Smith and Berra who are having "mares" so far this season, these 3 selections and Gerken beggar belief I would rather watch a couple of youngsters playing, and Bart than watch the aforementioned going through the motions resulting in another defeat or drab draw if those 4 were in a sales situation they would all have been sacked weeks ago!!!!.

Why should a Manager discuss selection with fans ? Managing people, even very well paid footballers, requires diplomacy and tact. Constructive dismissal happens in football so MM cannot trade opinions about his staff. Would any of us be happy if their boss talked openly to customers about the merits or not of individuals? Whatever we personally think about players in certain positions, MM has to remain loyal in public and do the bollocking in private. TWTD is a great fan web site and allows us to express anger, dismay etc but don't expect anyone to air dirty washing in public. Sorry to be boring !
