Town duo Daryl Murphy and Tommy Smith have been named in the Sky Bet Football League Team of the Week for their performances in the Blues’ 5-2 victory at Rotherham.

One day you will all come to see what I have been saying for years. Tommy, if allowed to play in his natural position, is our best defender. That he also has his best years ahead of him, and that he feels the Club. He also does great things in the community, that folks don't always see or hear about.

Tommy we are lucky to have you

@portmanterroeist. Like you i have always liked Tommy Smith. Thinking he is still only now 25yo he has done andvseen so much. How many orher players do have wjo has played in thevworld cup. Yes he still has his best uears still to come.
I guess i was lucky to see the likes of Butcher and Osman come through into the first team, boy did they both have you on the edge of your seats at times.

Yeah. Guys like Tommy are so important in a club/squad/team. Good, solid, hardworking professionals. They are the mortar that holds the rest of the structure together. Well done Tommy

Well deserved for both of them! Christophe Berra was awesome too on Saturday.

Most of our players played well on both games last week for that matter.

Portman Terrorist-couldn't agree more. Smith has been slated for a lot of this season but has been playing on the wrong side of the defence. Berra has been poor compared to last season & I have never really rated Chambers & certainly not at RB. He may be a great captain but his lack of ability is worrying but he's exactly in the same mould as MM who really wasn't that good a CH ( according to Brian Clough in an interview at least).
Smith scores a lot of goals for a defender & recently he has been our best defender

Without sounding too negative, on the face of it, a defender who let in 2 goals to a bottom of the league team shouldn't be in the team of the week.

Tommy Smith is a cracking defender , and is now the stand out player of our back 4

Just remember all the shouting about how rubbish McCauley and Delaney were. I think they've done alright since leaving on free transfers.

Mow the lawn, think you are being negative.

Don't forget Tommy is playing on his wrong side, and often gets put on the spot when Chambers goes awol.

Think he has been probably the best out of the back 5,who admittedly have conceded more goals than Mick would like, even on Saturday.

Smith has been our standout defender this year while playing on his weaker side (although a professional should be good on both sides, but have a preferred side). He has shored up the backline while Berra regained form, Nudsen got up to pace.
Murphy was sluggish in most of his first few games, but is now getting back to his best, so good for them that they made team of the week.
Most of all MM is starting to see what formation his current squad is best at.
either as a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3.
