Alabi Leaves By Mutual Consent
Thursday, 28th Jan 2016 15:23

Striker James Alabi has left the Blues after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

The 21-year-old joined Town as a member of Mark Kennedy’s development squad having been released by Stoke in the summer, signing a one-year deal with an option for a second season.

His only first-team appearance was as a sub in the Capital One Cup tie at Doncaster in August in which he scored, giving him the unique Town records of netting a senior goal for the club without playing a game at Portman Road and making just one appearance and scoring in that game.

Before Christmas Alabi spent time on loan with Grimsby (pictured) in the Vanarama National League, making two starts and three sub appearances, scoring two FA Trophy goals.

This is the danger of recruiting young hungry players from the lower leagues, sometimes they just don't make the step up.

Luke Hyam won't leave at all

He only went on loan to get his fitness up

Quite a bunch of drama Queens on here, development player, not even a fringe player, didn't make it. Not every player is going to make it, best for him to make a move. If Grimsby didn't work out, says it all. Oh for a world again without social media, lol!

Yes he wasn't in the squad but I'm afraid him, Oar, Parr et al suggest something wrong at the club. No recruitment strategy or scouting, no evidence of anyone above U15s capable of developing players, shocking U21s management and record - that's before we look at the first team's football. You can slag us doubters off all you like but the facts speak for themselves. Yes 8th is impressive but is achieved playing anti-football and can you really say Sears, AMN or Bishop (three young talented players) have improved under MM?

Connolly, Parr, Oar, Alabi...all leave by mutual consent. Can't say its all positive news at the club.

to all the doubters....T MIngs among others in resent times, all the way back to my childhood hero's Burley, Brazil and Wark - We are a business having to take the chances with youth and U21's players as MM and his people see it. COYB

TRIVIA TIME
So what does Dinosaur Mick have in in common with the ever-growing 'popular' and 'sympathetic' dutch manager-icon LVG .... besides ultra stubbornness and arrogance that is???

Basically a very similar (see picture) tactical "Masterplan" off course!!! :-) rofl

But ease up fans please! :-) cause our beloved Mick -- penniless and all -- can take great solace in the facts that fellow 'Hoof Ball' aficionado Louis "We are always attacking, damn'it!" Van Gaal is currently responsible for not only a team which has been held scoreless in the 1st half in the last 11 home games -- and earlier this season had an unfathomable 452-minute scoreless streak in all competitions -- his approx. £250 million "strengthened" side (compare to the Moyes regime) also have the fewest 'Shots On Target' among ALL 92 clubs currently in the FA!!! Thus Football Juggernauts the likes of Accrington Stanley and Hartlepool are practically more entertaining to watch, at home at least, than the 20-times champions of England???!!!

For the purists out there :-) A Small statistical correction to a simple typo/omission in the above .... Should obviously read: "Fewest 'Shots on Target' AT HOME among all 92 clubs currently in the FA".

MickszzzTactics: Don't forget that we often get linked with the released players from the Football Juggernauts of Accrington Stanley and Hartlepool. Shows how far we have come. We pick up players like Coke from Wednesday, who couldn't even get a deal at 3 league 2 clubs!!

We have no money to spend on players and, even if we did, clubs don't sell their better players in the January transfer window anyway cos they're all in the same position of wanting their best squad for the run in. Also can't see a so called big name being attracted to town anyway. I'm resigned to mid table.

Freeing up wages for a loanee?
Shame it didn't work out for Alabi but the somewhat sporadic nature & rules for the U21 games seems to do little to help players not playing in the first XI. Pity they don't have regular reserves football like in the days of the football combination

Runaround good point about combination I pointed it out a few weeks ago it would be better for the fringe players to play in a regular league I think it was that great prophet Jewell who deemed that the combination league was not good enough standard now Mccarthy is reaping the rewards of his two idiot predecessors.

Alex Henshall must be next surely? Ex-Man City, early 20's, can't get near the first team and is being subbed in the reserves / U21s and no hint of a loan move.

YES the club is 80 million in Debt. as said previously !!!!!!
But it will always be in Debt. while we are in this Championship league ?? (in fact we have been in it so long we should be due for a gold watch or something)

We will not speculate to try and get out of it ??? MM Thinks we have the players to get us out of this league ?? They are hard working players I agree, but a creative midfielder would do wonders for us like a Holland or Magilton type would be good HEY !!!!!!!
