Town are amongst a number of Championship clubs reported to be showing interest in Leicester City forward Tom Lawrence.

The 22-year-old is currently on loan at Blackburn Rovers but his spell is up on Sunday but is set to be sent out for another loan stint.

And, according to the Daily Mail, Hull City, Burnley, Cardiff City, Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and the Blues have all made enquiries regarding the Wales international.

Lawrence, who spent a month on loan at Rotherham last season around the time he was previously linked with the Blues, has made 15 starts and seven sub appearances, scoring two goals, since joining Blackburn in August.

The Foxes signed Lawrence from Manchester United for a reported £1 million on the final day of the 2014 summer transfer window after they had failed in their attempt to land Town’s David McGoldrick. But he has made just three league starts and one FA Cup sub appearance for the current Premier League leaders, all last season.

Wrexham-born Lawrence, who is contracted to the Foxes until June 2018, spent spells out on loan at Carlisle and Yeovil while a Manchester United player.

Town boss Mick McCarthy, who was spotted at the Madejski Stadium watching Tuesday’s opponents Reading in FA Cup action against Walsall this afternoon, has repeatedly played down the chances of the Blues adding to their squad before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Monday.

Just two goals this season, worse than our current crop! We need an attack minded goal scoring central midfielder and experienced defensive cover. That said if McGoldrick is out for longer, we could do with cover up front as well. Varney isn't known for his goals!

If he can play football then why on earth would he come to ITFC, if he cant, then what are we doing trying to sign him. Our style of play is like a virus and it WILL eventually be our undoing.

We have allowed players to leave in the last week or so weather our choice or theirs and it is plain for anyone without McCarthy tinted glasses on to see that our team and our depleted squad is not good enough. If you are totally honest in comparing our players to our rivals in the top 10 we fall well short !! If you asked all independent observers to select the best X1 from the championship the only player at ITFC who would have a hope of getting anywhere near it is Ryan Frazer and he's not even ours !!! "We can't get better than we have" ????? Do us a favour Mick and wake up and get real !!! I fully understand the club has made a financial decision to go down this no fee transfer policy but to wind the fans up by saying we can't improve on what we have is insulting and to make us excited about the possibility of promotion just to let us down by failing to compete with our rivals in the market is unacceptable and ripping us off. Taricco_Fan added 21:01 - Jan 30 @Granthamblue62 I think we all want to see Mick sign a creative midfielder/playmaker but in reality such a player doesn't suit McCarthy's style of football. It's not long ball football in its purest form, but we play in a direct way, getting high balls up to the forwards and down the channels for the wide players with minimal build-up play. The centre of midfield is more defensively-orientated in McCarthy's 4-4-2 system. The service is crosses from out wide or long balls from the back. Any creative midfielder is going to spend much of the game watching the ball sail over his head. I hate our style of play too but I guess it is effective for a team with no money to spend/ a reluctance to spend.

Plus the other clubs linked are able to give more percentage of wages. In a like vain can't see Jerome Thomas signing either. After his 2 trials at Yeovil and Hearts he was offered a contract at Hearts but unfortunately no deal could be agreed upon. Yeovil decided that they weren't interested either. I have no idea how his first game with us went but if you don't play the full 90 minutes it's a sign of 1 of 3 things: -1- you are brilliant. We will get your paperwork sorted and sign you up immediately -2- you're fitness is dodgy -3- hmmm...think we have seen enough, Expect more players to leave, not join. MM believes he has the right 11 already to take us into the Premiership. Well done Portsmouth btw for collecting your 250k on the Bournemouth game.

So, you would have got these players FOR FREE. Please think about this next time you send out the reserves for the 3rd round. If we had got a home draw against Bournemouth (like 2-2), most fans would have been ok with us being beaten in the replay. 420-450 K richer for it. We care about this cup and have pride that we won it in 1978.
