Town boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed that Ben Pringle’s loan with the Blues will be extended from its initial month, which is up this week, through to the end of the season and the play-off semi-finals, but not the final if the Blues reach Wembley.

“It was always taken that we’re taking him to the end of the season but that we can have a break in an emergency loan,” the Town boss said.

We understand that the break would stretch Pringle's 93-day short-term loan to allow him to play for the Blues in the play-off semi-finals if they make them but not the final on Saturday 28th May.

Pringle, 26, has been a big success since joining the Blues from Fulham, scoring the winning goal in the last two games and having made four appearances in total.

jas0999 added 12:13 - Mar 7 This is why we should have signed half season loan deals in January. Highly unlikely that Pringle wouldn't have been available. I suspect Evans wanted to save money and now we have been caught out by injuries. The question is whether the club will finally learn from this. I said in January that even though disappointed Evans wouldn't invest more significantly, we should as a minimum bought in a couple of half season deals.
