Bialkowski Wins Player of the Year
Saturday, 9th Apr 2016 20:15

Keeper Bartosz Bialkowski was named the Town Supporters Club Player of the Year at tonight’s Player Awards Evening in the Sir Bobby Robson Suite, beating Freddie Sears into second and Tommy Smith into third.

Accepting the award, Bialkowski said: “It feels amazing really, especially as I’ve gone through a lot this season and I’ve finished the season strong. It’s something special and I’d like to thank everyone.

“All the hard work pays off and massive credit to [goalkeeper-coach] Malcolm Webster, he’s been amazing, Gerks has been amazing as well this season before he got injured. Thank you.”

Bialkowski also picked up the Junior Blues Player of the Year, while Andre Dozzell was named the Dale Roberts Academy Player of the Year. The Platinum* Supporters Award went to Cole Skuse.

*Formerly the Away Match Passport holders.

Hey well done Bart, a dismal season for ITFC, but Bart is a worthy winner, & one of only a few bright lights this season, he has bided his time, played extremely well & throughly deserves the number one shirt & thus award. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Well deserved Bart! I'm amazed that Fraser hasn't even cracked the top 3, the amount of games he won man of the match for us, plus his 2 spells he's been out injured is when we've suffered most.

But very happy to see Bart take the prize, it's been a tough season for him, he should have gone straight back into the first team after the 5-1 loss to Reading in september, in fact if Gerken didn't pick up that injury bart would still be warming the bench!

Good news on a sad day, well done Bart

Good man. Performs week in week out. Mick totally wrong to not bring him back in after his father passed especially as gerken was playing poor! Our best keeper and has won us plenty of points this year!

Well done to him. Mind you he looks about as happy as we all are at the moment

As a side note, SBR with us for 13 years and only left to go to the England job, I wonder if we will ever have another manager stay that long.

Congratulations to Bart. Well deserved. Just think though, Bart lost his place despite some rather suspect and average performances from a lesser keeper, who if hadn't got injured would have remarkably kept his place. Second place goes to someone who MM has inexplicably played out of position and third to a player who remarkably was dropped today. Says it all about Mick, but well done to the three of them. Despite the odds stacked against them, they are worthy winners.

So MM's experiment didn't work, back to our trusted back 4 against Sheffield.

Well deserved - certainly saved us in recent times from some surefire defeats.

Should have played in more games than he has. Best keeper at the Club.

Well deserved Bart. Makes Mick's decision to leave him out even following his compassionate leave more mind boggling

I just wish he'd bloody catch the ball instead of this Superman punching crap. Looked decidedly suspect today I thought.

Well done Bart - has done well since he's been in (no congratualtions to Mick though) who has picked Gerken ahead of him for months! doh!
How comes Fraser is not in the top 3?...surprised.

By the way what is the platinum supporters award? does that go to Micks top performing favoute?

I'll admit, I never thought much of Bart (thought he was an average Championship keeper/backup keeper) until he came back into the side after his family tragedy. Totally changed my opinion and I tip my hat to him. He's single handedly won us points where we should've been hammered (Huddersfield and Bolton first two to spring to mind). Well done Bart. The top 3 are probably the only 3 to come out with any praise from the second half the season for me.

It's a sad inditement and a disturbing statement on our season when the goalie is the player of the season.
Never in my time as a town fan can I recall this happening before?

Cooper, Forrest and Wright have all won it before.

Well done to Bart. Some super performances over recent months since his return to the side, and worthy of the number one shirt for next season.

Smith has been consistent, but what are we to think with him being dropped today and with his contract up in the summer? Surely we won't let Tommy go?!

Well done Bart thoroughly deserved! Probably the first time in years we have the goalkeeper position sorted! We have to make sure we hold on to him in the summer, some of his performances have been outstanding and I'm sure they would attract premier leagues being interested in him! Well done Bart 👍

Sorry but sums up voting people's short term memory. Don't get me wrong congrats Bart prob deserved top 3 but not winner. No player that has played only 1/3 of the season should win it. To me based on whole season (not the last 2 months as this vote seems) should only have been Freddie.

Congratulations to all five of those who have been awarded they were all fully merited but particularly Bart's award after the disgraceful treatment he received and this surely highlights McCarthy's judgement of players which can partially explain the awful mess we are currently in. Last piece was for you finzha!

Very well done Bart, great effort and attitude.
Really pleased with this as it proves that sometimes the good guys do come out on top.
