Patterson on Target in New Zealand Warm-Up Match
Wednesday, 18th May 2016 14:43

Town's Monty Patterson netted the opening goal as New Zealand beat Australian side Western Pride 2-0 in a warm-up game ahead of the OFC Nations Cup in Ipswich, Queensland this morning.

Midfielder or striker Patterson, 19, who was playing his first game for the senior All Whites side, curled home a freekick in the ninth minute. Strasbourg’s Bill Tuiloma scored the second goal on 57.

The squad, which also includes former Town loanee Rory Fallon but not Tommy Smith, is currently at a training camp in Brisbane.

The All Whites take on Fiji in their opening game of the tournament on Saturday 28th May, then face Vanuatu three days later before completing their group matches against the Solomon Islands on Saturday 4th June with all their games in Port Moresby.

Would he be the first Town player ever to score an international goal actually in Ipswich?

Frankley Blue I think you will find that Pablo scored against England's U21 at Birmingham's St Andrews

Kieron scored for England against Croatia at Portman Road but it was disallowed for offside, wrongly as it turned out.

Full Monty!! As an expat Tractor Boy in far-flung NZ, we are watching Monty with interest. Really hope he does push on now he's back from injury and gets to feature in PNG for the All Whites.
