McCarthy: McGoldrick Doing Well
Thursday, 21st Jul 2016 00:00 by Dave Gooderham

Blues boss Mick McCarthy says striker David McGoldrick is making good progress but won’t be rushed back into action having picked up a hip flexor problem earlier in pre-season.

McCarthy says Town are managing the 28-year-old Republic of Ireland international’s return as he has scar tissue in his upper thigh but is confident he'll be OK for the start of the season.

“He is having a week’s training this week and he is doing really good,” McCarthy said. “I have no intention of pushing him back. That thing’s been niggling for a while now, his thigh.

“He will be doing the ‘Premier League runs’ tomorrow, which are pretty tough.

“He needs to get a base which he can work from. If he doesn’t get that, he will keep picking stuff up.”

Meanwhile, the Town manager says he and owner Marcus Evans had their expected hour-long chat about transfer dealings at the Sir Bobby Robson Golf Classic in Portugal at the weekend.

“It was just a nice, good discussion in a relaxed atmosphere,” he added. “There’s never been any tension between us.”

Well just maybe there should be some tension some passion. Its obvious those who can make the difference are looking for mid table safety again!

Lack of tension = acceptance of appalling hoofball, favoutism of second rate out of position players and moronic comments from a manager who never fails to go on about the spending of other clubs because he thinks it excuses him and gives him a cast iron excuse for his own shortcomings and inability to attract good footballers.
ITFC is currently a tarnished hoofball brand.
Evans, Milne and McCarthy all come out of this badly.

now put yourself in his shoes. An owner thst won't give him any serious money to enable you to partially compete with the PL failures.

You cant make a silk purse out of a sows ear. I would hope even you could grasp that FACT.

If there is a God up there please get Didsy back fit and in his form of 3 seasons ago - banging in goals from all over the park.

A one hour meeting to discuss the club between owner and manager, truly ridiculous. Probably concluded that they would stick to the same as the last few seasons, freebies and loan signings to bring along other clubs players.

Bored of McGoldrick's injury problems every year. Probably on a very big wage that could be used on a guy who will play 40+ games a season rather than 10. As for the lack of transfer activity, I'm dumbfounded as to the lack of signings we've made. We needed to invest for the past 2 or 3 years and it just hasn't happened. Starting to worry a bit now, only 2 weeks until Barnsley.

You guy's are embarrassing yourselves, finding any little detail to bash Mick/Evans about. These guy's are in regular contact, the conversation about transfers wasn't an official meeting rather an informal chat because they were both attending the same event.

In terms of didz, glad he'll be back for the start of the season as he's one of our best players. Slightly worrying that he can't seem to put a run of games together before getting an injury though.

It was originally scheduled for 2 hours
but the subject of new players became too boring
so they decided to watch some "Mr Bean" episodes instead.

McCarthy could then watch the sun go down by the hotel pool and finally chill out.

McGoldrick has flattered to deceive at most of his clubs, and looks like he's going to waste his talent here.. Guess we will be starting season with the same bunch as last..

Time to move on and buy someone who can actually contribute .

football is a business..
in any business a team member with consistent health issues gets supported to a point where if it becomes untainable and they consistantly cannot be relied upon to contribute (do the job they get paid for) they then must move them on..again in a supportive way.
This guy has become the Darren Anderton of ITFC.. a talented but nonetheless consistent 'sicknote' who cannot be relied upon...end of story...
Be supportive but move him on.

A ball hasn't been kicked in earnest and already theres several posters already writing off a team that finished the league 6th and 7th in the last 2 seasons. Fickle fickle fans you are!

I expect he'll be fit in time for Ireland's world cup campaign in 2018.

Quote ArnieM "You cant make a silk purse out of a sows ear. I would hope even you could grasp that FACT. -"

No that's true but a decent Manager can make it into a better sow's ear.

"Scar tissue??

For someone who's deep diving to find something to criticise MM for, you should at least know the basics of muscle injury diagnosis and treatment before trying to mock him for educating you.

Muscle tears do result in scar tissue which needs to be treated properly to avoid ongoing complications in the injured area. Go find something else to criticise him for, like, how's the weather in Ipswich today? Too hot? Too cold? Must be MM's fault.

You don't have to dive deep
Just a snorkel will do

Wind your neck in!!
It was a tongue in cheek joke. Whilst I don't pretend to be a Harley street surgeon I've had more than my share of leg injuries sports related & otherwise & probably know as much as you. Furthermore if you can find one single posting by myself criticising MM please let me know because it hasn't happened.
Try not to be so condescending & get a sense of humour.

By the way I don't live in Ipswich so you'll have to Google the weather.
