Signing and Photo Session Kicks-Off Open Day
Monday, 25th Jul 2016 10:00

Town’s open day at Portman Road this Thursday will take a slightly different format from previous years with the signing and photo session with the players kicking off the event at 10am (gates open 9.30am).

In past seasons the players and staff have signed autographs and posed for photos with fans after their training session on the main pitch, but this year the two have been swapped around.

Having signed autographs and had their photos taken from 10am until 11am the squad will be put through their paces by manager Mick McCarthy, his assistant Terry Connor and fitness coach Andy Liddell from 11.30am.

The free event, which was attended by more than 8,000 fans last year, also features a host of activities on the FieldTurf behind the East of England Co-operative Stand and runs until 2pm.

Wonder if we will have a couple of new wingers by then. Somehow doubt it.

Phil is such a tease putting the word "signing" in the headline.

That's probably why they're having the signing thing first, so any that do sign can then join in the training session straight afterwards...

Can Andy Liddell still play?

It may be fruitful to have a few spectators join in the practice session.

Then McCarthy can snap them up before anybody else does

Town you have made a major error of judgement here. what about the out of towners?? I have a train booked from Staines and then up to Ipswich via Liv St. Arrival time 1100ish based on the info advertised. When was it decided to get it changed timewise??. So I miss probably the most attractive aspect of the open day... a chance to get a coupla piccies and maybe the odd selfie has just disappeared down the "swannee".

Not happy with this arrangement. Grrrrrr !!

Oh yes did I mention that I am a ST holder and "do" 90% of away fixtures.

Loyal supporters an' all that.

I reckon essex57, Elto, and a few others, oh and of course Bert, are already camping in Portman Road.

Don't want to miss anything lads - get in there, and get those autographs - you'll need to be quick so you don't miss the new signings.

You may even get a 'selfie' with your messiah........ if you're lucky.

Agreed Pimballwizard. We are bringing the children from Oxfordshire and won't get there till at least 11.

I'm really annoyed they have changed the format. The kids want some autographs.

Tend to agree with you pimball wizard for us out of towners. Not happy about that either. Original time was 10am posted on 10th June, so based on that info booked advance train ticket frm London to get in at 0943. I'm a season ticket holder, come up from London to all home games & at least 90% away games. I've only been coming a few years.. The earliest I'll get to the club will be at 10am and prob won't get in until half way through signing session, if I'm lucky.

It's not that I'm necessarily interested in getting autographs myself, but it is the most social and popular part of the day for fans, when players and fans connect which is good publicity for the club and can also attract new fans. I don't think it is a good move having that at the beginning of the day.
