Town Set to Sign Everton Winger Grant
Thursday, 4th Aug 2016 12:11

TWTD understands that Town are set to sign 21-year-old Everton winger Conor Grant on a season-long loan.

Fazakerley-born Grant is expected to join the Blues in time to face Barnsley in the opening Championship fixture at Portman Road on Saturday.

Former England U18 international Grant, who can also play in central midfield, has previously spent time on loan with Motherwell and Doncaster Rovers but is yet to make a senior appearance for the Toffemen.

Again, like the other Grant, I don't know too much about this lad. Hope he is worth the gamble!

Regarding KaiKai, I don't think that I likely since he scored a couple for Palace last time out and a lot of Palace fans wanting to give him the chance in the 18.

Anything on Lamah, Phil?

After seeing some videos of him, it looks like he can play anywhere across the midfield, from RM/LM or CM. Scoring a great goal against Colchester cutting in from RM, but finally is this a gifted left footed player??

Interesting. Never seen him play but happy to give the boy a chance. Hope we're still in for Kaikai but that would appear unlikely now.

Another winger - great news! Very good ITFC1983 :) - should be a new chant, perhaps?

No, he can't score and doesn't have a freekick on him and a player playing central midfield can't definitely go wide either.

Let's be positive where positivity is due. We've just signed two promising young players, one loan, one permanent, with the potential to develop. This is the Ipswich way many of us have been asking for, even if they don't come from our own Academy. I don't expect miracles at first, but keen to see how they do, and they should get all our support.

Good luck to the lad know nothing about him .
If MM does his "business so quickly" why has he left it so late ? Probably because he watched the pre season friendlies and then panic set in .
Norwich bidding for the likes of McCormack and Pritchard , 6 years ago they were in the third tier

Mick has clearly been abducted by space aliens & replaced by one of David Icke's reptilians.
Cameron Stewart, pack your bags now.

@Surco72 its a fair question, but I think what people are saying is, he doesn't prolong these dealings in public (like for instance Nodge and their unsuccessful 3 week approach for McCormack), rather we don't hear about it until it's done usually.
I think MM probably has been chasing these two for some time - I doubt very much he has only picked them up in the final days of pre-season. But instead of coming out and answering the criticisms that nothing was happening, and telling people who he was after just to make them feel better about everything, he has wisely kept his cards close to his chest. Good management, no?

Conor Grant and Lamah fighting for the left berth and Cameron Stewart and the other Grant fighting for the ride side. Id be happy with that personally.

Most Championship sides will rely on one or two loans, so not concerned by that. We also desperately needed more additions so good news there. Whether he is any good - I have absolutely no idea! Time will tell.

How can you lot be excited about a player who scored twice for a relegated league one side, why are we signing a youngster who's no better than our own I'd rather Cameron Stewart played!!!!

@13TaylorGAK

I'm up there with the biggest moaners on this site... but come on, give the guy a chance.

Bohslegend .... you could look at it at that way or you could look at like this ...Stewart was told at the end of the season he was not wanted a few weeks later when we have no one else he is a part of the squad , after we have a very poor pre season results and goals scored wise against lower opposition than ourselves with supporters showing frustrations and questioning lack of ambition we suddenly sign two relatively unknown players in the week before kick off , yet last season our loan and deals were done by June I would say MM has less faith in the squad he has assembled after pre season than he did going into it , but hopefully he has signed two young hungry players that will do the club proud

I dont disagree with anything you've said there Surco.

But I think he's a little bit more calculated than some would give him credit for. The only surprise for us is that he's brought in two new players again without any of us expecting them in, but it's no surprise that this is the way he does business, he's done this plenty of times before, with us and others. So my inclination is to think that he's had these irons in the fire for some time and has only now gotten the deals done.
