Huws Keen to Stay But No Talks Yet
Wednesday, 26th Apr 2017 17:58

Loanee midfielder Emyr Huws has reiterated his desire to stay with the Blues next season but says he’s yet to speak to anyone regarding a permanent switch from his parent club Cardiff City.

Wales international Huws, 23, has two years left on his Bluebirds contract having signed for them from Wigan last summer, but had made only two starts and two sub appearances prior to his move to Town in January.

"I've really enjoyed my time at Ipswich so far,” he said in an interview with Saturday’s match programme.

“Everyone has been really good to me, and it's been a really good part of my career. It's big to have people you know here, it helps you settle in much quicker.

"It was nice to see some familiar faces like Jonny [Williams] and Tom [Lawrence] when I came in, but it is one of the best changing rooms I've ever been in, so there was never any problems settling in. The environment here is really good.

"I've not spoken to anyone about being here next season yet, we're just focusing on the last couple of games and to finish strong, then we'll see what happens after that.

"I have really enjoyed myself here though, so hopefully we can sort something."

Huws has scored three times in 11 starts for the Blues, including the third goal in the 3-1 at home to Newcastle.

Lightningboy- strikes again!, good post

Any chance you can add Luke "look at me, check out my 'full sleeve' when I do the fist pump, with my immaculate hair and groomed beard, and my snarling face 😬( actually kind of reminds me of a 'bulldog licking pish off a stinging nettle') or maybe resembling a well slapped ass IMHO) and throwing my boots down ('lets ave itttt style') to the 'baying mob''" CHAMBERS to that deadwood list?????!!!!

For those saying why aren't we in talks with Huws the problem is he is under contract at Cardiff so nothing can be done without their say so
That said I hope we can get him

The season hasn't ended, the window hasn't ended and talks should be done in private. It still doesn't stop the constant moaning about us not signing anyone for next season yet!

I'll echoe others here, concerned that we have yet to sort out contracts.ive also heard a fairly credible rumour that a Brighton scout will be at our next home game (targets Spence and Huws), so a tad concerned we might be leaving things too late.

Given he's someone else's player (and not in the last 6 months of his contract), how much negotiation with the player are we allowed to do?

We may not have spoken to Huws himself yet, but that doesn't mean we haven't approached Cardiff about taking him.

Bring him in! This is the type of player we want. He wouldn't cost the earth, he's talented and most importantly really wants to wear the shirt. Stop dithering before someone gives him a better offer!

Town , as usual will procrastinate, and the player will be lost to a rival club.

No players will be sorted until the Manager's future is sorted. The end of the seaosn cant come quick enough IMO. I doubt Evans will changes his funding strategy. So more of the same next seaosn I fear.

RIP Ipswich Town FC

Of course we should sign him.

Big change in MM transfer style from the early days of bang job done to foot dragging or worse not talking to players about opportunities. In short, I don't think that Evans or the directors give MM the freedom and authority to get players in or re-signed. If so, bad for all concerned.

This is all positioning talk for now - I wouldn't expect much in the way of movement until the window opens.
That said, there's nothing stopping Warnock and MM taking a break from their mutual back slapping and getting this sorted ready for the big announcement on the day the window opens.
I'll reserve judgement until that day dawns whilst praying that Ian 'all the money was invested in wages' Milne doesn't get involved in any negotiation.
I would love to know the unequivocal truth as to why we are so impotent in the transfer market, but doubt we'll ever know for sure.
My guess however is that we bid £1m for a player we know is valued at £3m and whinge that ''we put a 7 figure bid in'' as a smokescreen.
There's no doubt about it - this close season is make or break for a club that has lost all credibility.

cant see Evans selling ,cant see McCarthy leaving, can see another summer of apathy, rumours ,and disappointment .And even more disillusioned supporters .

Guentchev - either front up your 'rumour' or keep quiet.

Whilst we have a 'credible' Premier League player like Lawrence at the club and we are playing a 'credible' contender such as Sheffield Wednesday it's really not hard to make statements like this without any real foundation.

On this basis I would be very surprised if the already promoted clubs were not represented at PR on Saturday.

As of previous seasons our new squad will be hurriedly assembled in the last week before season starts and made up of freebies and who's left to pick from that wants to come here. Pre season will be a few meaningless games against poor quality Irish teams and we'll be off into the next season of Championship football, all hope, but no change! I do like Huws when he gets involved in a game but am I the only one who thinks he drifts in and out of games and is also prone to games when you don't know he's on the pitch. Maybe that's why he doesn't get on with Warnock. Clubs in a right mess!! Management, owner, players, supporters, nobody seems to know what the hell is planned!

The fact that Warnock wanted to swap Best, then Gerken for Huws to me speaks volumes.
Cardiff want to offload him for some reason, so if we throw £300,000-£500,000 at them I reckon that they will make a deal.
I hope it does happen cause we need a good box to bow midfielder, something we haven't had for a fair while, and I think Huws could be as good as Holland was given the right tactics to utilise him in a good midfield role.

Remember he is still under contract to Cardiff so I doubt nothing will be sorted until the end of the season.
We have not yet heard who is being released or being kept on at the moment,so it's just guess work.!
My main concern is the Manager. Is he staying or going, until the club decides I very much doubt we will hear anything positive.!

Let's face facts here, we are all in complete limbo ,almost 'trance like states' as too which direction ITFC is heading, so everything on here is pure speculation, after all, who are we the fans??? oh yes, the paying CLIENTS! Always the last to know!

Martin 587 and there lays the biggest problem. Just like the ball it's all up in the air

Although it is a bit early to get concerned I do hope we sign Huws.

I expect the announcements will soon be made on who is going in addition to those we already know about.

However today Mick hinted that the additions will be discussed with Marcus soon when the face to face talks take place.

It may be that Mr Evans is stalling as he does intend to change Managers, lets hope so!
