Hladky in Team of the Week
Monday, 21st Aug 2023 16:20

Blues keeper Vaclav Hladky has been named in the Sky Bet Championship Team of the Week for his display in the 1-0 win at QPR on Saturday.

The Czech made a number of impressive stops as he continued his excellent start to the season having come into the side for the injured Christian Walton.

Last week, Luke Woolfenden and Wes Burns were named in the select XI for their performances in the 2-0 home win against Stoke.

I have an issue with all that yellow and green! It was only Millwall after all!!!

Agree Barry, I watched the 2nd half and Millwall were appalling!

With all that green and gold, it looks like a Christmas tree, with Hladky as the trunk.

Do you think we knew Walton was injured when we signed Slicker?

Good to see they couldn't really be bothered with the right back position - after putting in so much yellow and green, it seemed a bit of a joke side, so have just put in whoever...

Well on his form so far Walton might not be straight back in the team when fit.

Town have 2 if not 3 very good goalkeepers

I think the team of the week pickers had a few pints on Sunday and forgot about their job until after watching the afternoon game. What a lazy selection.

Well done Vas though!

Could I just ask that everybody have a close look at hoppy's comment above, and do the right thing!

I wonder if Walton is on his way to a Premier league club, and ITFC just having a good look at our 2 fit keepers before any deal finalised

Tractorboy

Not a chance unless it’s really silly money and he wanted to go which I doubt he does after listening to him on town tv

It has been a great month for Hladky, where he has gone from some people suggestion that Slicker was going to take over as our #2 goalkeeper, to our various podcasting experts genuinely wondering if Walton will be able to get back in the team when he's over his injury. Full credit to Vaz, keep his head down & worked after a disappointing start to his time here, looked good when he played last season, & has won us points now in the Championship.
Slicker looked a really good prospect too when he played against Bristol Rovers, so we are in a really strong position now between the sticks.

The Sky Bet Championship Team of the Week is somewhat devalued when there's so much budgie kr@p on it

How good has he been! But question is would he be dropped if Walton is fit again? I can't see it at the moment in his form.

I still want to know if he got a touch for that one that hit both posts. Regardless, watching close up, that was the most composed I have seen him in an Ipswich Shirt. Amazing what a run in the Team can do for a player, and not without pressure having also watched Slicker have a stellar game in the Cup game. Well deserved !

Somebody sensible picked the keeper then handed it over to Chris Sutton to pick the rest it seems !!
