| News Comment | Birmingham Winger Linked With Blues and Bees at 21:20:46
As he's been offered new terms I'm pretty sure we would have to pay compensation and I believe we had to pay over 400k for Cressy, so chances are it will be around that figure again. Two common arguments from Town fans are that we aren't paying fees for players and that we should be looking for good players in the lower leagues. This guy would cost a fee, has performed well in the lower leagues (I know he's a Birmingham player before people point it out) and would bring pace to the side. Four goals in eight games for a struggling (and ultimately relegated) league two side is good going for a striker, let alone a winger. Yes we've had some young wingers coming into the club that haven't worked (yet) but there's no harm bringing in another on relatively low wages I'm guessing. Taking a chance on a younger player may pay dividends with some of the crazy fees going around (£3.5 for the young Charlton full back for example). Jamie Ward is a good player but the truth is we can't match Forest financially judging by the calibre of player they have at the club, despite finishing mid table and their FFP issues. |

A young manager wouldn't be the way to go. We need to have someone with experience and who hasn't been out of football for too long (wouldn't rule out Billy Davies though). We went for the young appointments with Keane and Magilton. Di Canio has had success so far at Swindon but has more backing than most of other teams in League One and it is only his first job. Good players don't necessarily make good managers. Mick McCarthy or Owen Coyle if they would come to us. |
| News Comment | Clegg: Long List of 34 Names at 17:33:56
Would be happy with Mick McCarthy, Owen Coyle or Billy Davies. Maybe Steve Cotterill, would be disappointed if we appointed Alex McLeish,Darren ferguson, megson, Kean or Di Canio in particular. |
| News Comment | Town Move for Mohsni at 16:40:38
Townlad21 just because he plays in the lower leagues doesn't automatically make him a poor player, Michael Kightly came from Grays, Adam Le Fondre from Rotherham and even Andy Drury from Luton. These players had something to prove. |
| News Comment | Luongo Loan Signing Confirmed at 22:48:28
Don't see how people can say its a poor signing before he's even kicked a ball, give the lad a chance. The argument that we should be developing our younger players not other teams is ridiculous, they may not be good enough. We may not sign him after the loan but bringing in players that Jewell thinks are better than what we've got can only benefit the team. No one complained about Gio and he was a relatively unknown quantity when he arrived. |
| News Comment | Blues in Heskey Talks at 13:34:43
Admittedly a laughing stock at international level and in the prem but would be a cracking partner for chops in the championship, would even fancy him to get goals. Jewell's comment about not having the budget to have three keepers on the books suggests we can't afford the wages that Heskey would be on. |
| News Comment | Blade Lowton and Manchester City\'s Assulin Linked at 11:52:35
Tractorboybig - Lowton can play right back! Anyway we have NO chance of getting Assulin as I heard reports that Barca were gutted that he left for city and they even referred to him as 'the new Messi' will be unbelievable if true but can't see it. Rated at £34million, look at the lower leagues not unrealistic targets!!! |

| News Comment | Jewell Set to Meet Leadbitter on Wednesday at 17:57:14
I agree that we don't want a repeat of last season with players leaving for free and in an ideal situation we would receive a reasonable fee for him after signing him up. However I believe he could cost us near on £1m in wages a year so it may be best just to accept the huge loss as he has been appalling for too long now and I don't think he should get in our team even though he's the skipper. |

| News Comment | Bullard Set for Town Medical at 00:19:43
Yeah but as Clegg stated in an interview, Marcus Evans is not going to settle for more mid table finishes. He's a businessman so he's not going to be content with making unbelievable losses. Let's just hope he sticks around! Btw you saying we can blow any championship side out of the water with transfer fees may I introduce you to West Ham and Leicester(who paid £5million for a centre back who sat on the bench last weekend), Churchmans = clueless. |

| News Comment | Murphy Rejoins on Loan at 23:10:31
I assume he'll go straight into the team, obviously PJ's lost faith in Ellington, Scotland and Priskin. If he gets 1 in 3, Chopra gets 15 goals and Andrews, Martin, Bullard, Bowyer and JET chip in with goals from midfield it looks alot more promising. |
| News Comment | Bullard Set for Town Medical at 22:42:35
I agree it's excellent news in an awful week for town but I am becoming concerned with the age of our squad now. With Bullard, Andrews, Edwards, Ingimarsson, Delaney, Bowyer, Scotland, Ellington, Sonko and Healy all over the age of 30 it does suggest that it could be win or bust this season. I appreciate we also have young players as well but a large part of our team are the older players. Jewell does like having an older squad as he had at Wigan but it is risky. Also the wages that I assume players such as Bullard, Andrews and Bowyer are on could spell trouble if we have another mediocre season. Onwards and upwards! |
| News Comment | Town Targeted Upson and Woodgate at 20:44:08
Definitely shows ambition by PJ but completely unrealistic! Maybe trying to attract players of this calibre may have resulted in us missing out on more realistic targets and we could have had them in place by now. These two are a huge risk for Stoke with the wages they are on let alone Ipswich who presumably let Fulop go due to high wages. |
| News Comment | Evans Linked Again at 00:18:22
Been poor for a couple of seasons now but did look decent at Norwich. Would prefer more of a target man and someone with a better scoring record. However he is a good age so we may get the best out of him, would prefer others though! |
| News Comment | O\'Connor May Have to Move On at 15:46:27
I think O'Connor is decent and should be given a go as he was good in Keane's reign. Leicester at home he was excellent! |
| News Comment | Jewell Waiting to Hear Back on Two Bids at 22:42:19
Treacy and Hulse would be decent IMO, not sure about Sharp as we need height in the team! Also as people have said a right back is a necessity, aswell as a younger centre back. |
| News Comment | Bowyer Signing Confirmed at 23:54:06
Now for the striker, another centre mid, winger, right back, centre back and a commanding goalkeeper IMO. I think we need more height in the team, we lost McAuley who was 6ft3 and replaced him will Ingimarsson who's just 6ft. Would love to see Olofinjana from Hull with a bit of height in the holding role. Also, IMO we need a striker with abit of height, a younger Iwelumo or Kuqi type. There's no height with Chopra, Ellington, Scotland (needs to go), Murray and Priskin's main strength isn't in the air. |
