I can never quite understand this 'long ball' criticism levelled at teams. It may not be pretty, but surely the idea is to win games fairly but in a way that suits the team's abilities. After all, if members of your team have the ability to accurately kick a long ball to a forward, and that forward has the skill to bring it under close control, then you are surely going to play to that strength? It's up to the opposing team to counact that. One of Beckham's skills was his long accurate kicks, which teams he played for used to good effect. |

I have backed Keane until now bit am beginning to wonder. He says "final ball needs to improve" yet I see that Garvan 'made' both goals scored by Palace against Nodge last night! When he was with us Garvs had the highest number of assists (i.e. final balls) in the club and yet Keane was determined to get rid of him. Does not compute. |

Good news. He was not playing so well when we played Leic. at home and took a bit of stick from their supporters; " Leicester reject" if I remember rightly. Playing well now so perhaps can get his own back, plus a trademark headed goal as a bonus. |
