This is an important game, not over the season as a whole, but in terms of indicating whether we are able to reverse our bad recent run of points dropping. Of course, WBA are a strong outfit and have ambitions of their own. Perhaps coming up against them at this point is a good thing, perhaps a bad thing, but 3 points against the Baggies will tell us more than a win against the likes of Rotherha., |

I would hope that it is played with kid gloves on as an unnecessary injury to a star player would make it a terrible idea. Players get injured in training and even pre-match warm-ups these days as they are so finely tuned. Perhaps it will be second eleven stuff as in the Carabao. This would make more sense to me. |

He's right. We had what Sunderland did not ... a cutting edge. Even under the cosh in the first half we carved decent openings far better than Sunderland managed with all their pressing. It was men against boys at first, but the boys looked more dangerous. I don't share other's view of Sunderland being that strong and see them as none other than mid-table, unless their fully strength side, that he mentioned materialises and they become a threat to the scoreline. We did defend well throughout though. |
