| Forum Reply | Norwich Preparing Well for the Playoffs? at 09:24 9 May 2024
I am informed (unreliably) that there is much discontent and divisiveness at that club due to the sacking of Farke, the toxic ending to the Webber era and Delia wariness. They have a new owner in the pipeline, a young replacement for Webber, and some want a clean sweep with Wagner out too. Others retain East Anglian reserve and favour a risk-averse approach. Now this, which seems worse, if true, than the Brandon Williams case. They will probably go on to win the play-offs now. |

His progress with Arsenal has been gradually managed, and didn't they once put an £18m price tag on the player before he was even established in their first team squad. It would be more now. His wages alone would destroy our structure, and I doubt that they would loan him out again. Unrealistic unless somebody at the top has decided that we need a Forest type revolution and such a massive investment as the way forward. [Post edited 7 May 13:17]

Myopic nonsense. What if we fail? Success can never be guaranteed. Many clubs could claim that 40, 000 plus in the PL against the giants, but how many for the others? There is also constant television coverage to compete against, and for this so-called explosion of our fan base to consider. What about the maintenance costs of a half empty 40, 000 plus ground if the club suddenly struggles to get 20, 000? Even Nodge has a larger fan-base, and that area expands as well. We are amongst the many and must accept that and must not get ahead of ourselves as we once did. As for dormant, what is that supposed to mean. Fair weather supporters? If so, you defeat your own argument. [Post edited 2 May 8:58]

I upvoted it because it holds sense, but nevertheless feel that it is alarmist and exaggerated. However, we must not get ahead of ourselves, we are one club of so many chasing the dream. |

That was my initial thought. I do not agree with any sort of conspiracy theory in regard to favouritism or bias or whatever, even though those figures are quite surprising. Perhaps also, PL players become more adept at feigning, falling over and fooling the ref. The Premier League is far more cynical than the lower leagues after all.. |

A point away to a top six side is not a wasted opportunity. We are a good team, but not that good that we can dismiss a team such as Hull in that way. They fought back three times, credit to them. We have been over the moon about our own fightbacks this season. Some fans are ahead of themselves. |

Chelsea won't let him slip through their fingers a second time and they don't need the money. |

I share your doubts, but assume the medics advice is positive and that MCK, has relied upon this. |
| Forum Reply | Will it get any easier next season in the Championship? at 09:51 26 Apr 2024
Of course we do. We must also be realistic and accept that the PL will be tough, that we may well get relegated after just one season and that McKenna has an equal chance of being lured away wherever we are placed. |

I've always thought that the railways should be expanded, cheap to use and treated as a loss-leader in order to get people off the roads. Cheaper in the long run, imo. Better for air pollution too. |

Wagner is no tactician and pre-historic when compared to KM, but he got it right on the day. They have a few match winning individuals who pull something from the bag in tight games. That's what worries me: Sara, Saintz and now that Nunez (South American flair?). ***** Our collective over two games should be the beating of them, not so sure about a tight one-off, *****Edit: All bought with parachutes, nb for those a bit scared of our fate once up in the PL.. From now on our club's progress could be more staged, as I see it. [Post edited 24 Apr 9:09]

Rowe will be back for the play-offs. I hope Burns will be too. |

Nothing's changed over the years except that it gets more of a strugle. "We've got a point, we've got a point, Eee, I, adio, we've got a point." How long ago was it that Graeme Taylor sang at getting a draw when his doomed team, Watford were a one-season inhabitant of the top league? |

Managers are only fans of the clubs they manage at any moment in time. It's their livelihood. |

I needs to be accepted that, for the most part, becoming an established PL club is a gradual process that involves investing in youth and the Playford Road facilities and expanding the scouting network than investing in the squad by signing very highly paid players at great cost. We seem to have built up a very strong management structure in KM and his team in record time. Infrastructure is on the mend, and I am delighted with proposals re: training facilities and youth I consider it more important that we keep this intact along with investment in youth, than having unrealistic expectations about the club's fortunes in the PL, [Post edited 20 Apr 7:10]

No fee but high wage demands and at 30+ No sell on value. Not that much PL level experience and in a relegated side. Only interest from Turkey? A youngster on loan might well be a better option. A lot to weigh up. The Land of Milk and Honey seems to involve a lot of milking for so little honey. |

Re: Truss. There was nothing wrong with legislating for growth, 1% off basic rate I/T and halting the intended rise in Corporation Tax to encourage business as Ireland had done (lowered it.) Most of the rest of that budget was quite stupid, as was the woman herself. [Post edited 15 Apr 17:38]

Not sure about this. It has been quite a long lay-off, and starting immediately upon recovery might do more harm than good. Best as sub. imo, but the meds will know best. |
