Fashanu chants again yesterday
at 10:42 8 May 2024

I spoke to a group of lads who were singing about Justin Fashanu in a pub on Saturday - hard to believe really.

If it was you, how about agreeing with your mates that it's the last time you'll do so and move on?

I like this. There's strong potential for songs that play on our yokel perception, imho.

Thanks for digging that up (and I stand by it!).

I wonder what can be done though to try and generate some fresh, original songs, to give us our own identity. Same applies to the PA at games. Hey Jude is obviously great, but it would be nice to have something unique to us

Is the list finished at EEJB? One song unique to Ipswich?

Original songs

For starters, can I say that the atmosphere at the ground has been great lately, and I think Blue Action and the North Stand are playing their part in backing the team.

But when it comes to songs, how many are unique to Ipswich? They're often the first place I hear them, but then I later find out they're adapted from other clubs.

So.. which songs are truly our own?

Anyone else find it a bit cringe/wasted energy to sing about a single opposition player?

Beginning of the end for Blue Action?
at 14:08 12 Mar 2024

This is a deep comment - can I control where my mind goes? Who knows.

The point is, if other people also make the connection between the terms used and hooliganism then there's a chance it will become an issue.

Beginning of the end for Blue Action?

Whatever side of this debate you're on, I think it's healthy to be discussed.

Personally, when I see banners saying 'ultras' and 'Suffolk punch' with a fist symbol my mind associates this with violence and hooliganism.

The affect Blue Action has had on the atmosphere at Portman Road has been fantastic, but I don't think the move towards this language does them any favours.

Their ethos from the start was to create positive support for the team, winning or losing, throughout the match. This seems like an unnecessary deviation imho

Any good pics of that BA78 Suffolk Punch banner?

That's a fair point - and I agree, the alternative is worse.

I also get that my concern might be a bit premature, but I'd hate to see Blue Action evolve into a comfortable hiding place for hooligans, so it's a good conversation to have.

Controlled aggression is a bit of a nasty term, imho. And it's a thin line to tread.

I remember the original remit of Blue Action being positive support, whatever the scenario or scoreline. The atmosphere is undoubtedly better as a result of their work, but I'd be wary of building on this element of the hardcore fanbase.

A pun on 'punch', the 'ultras' banner - is the branding of Blue Action at risk of becoming a bit thuggish, or is that me being too soft?

Come on Town fans - have to be better..

I agree with the OP.

Blue Action are making a massive difference to the atmosphere but the North Stand could do with getting involved more. So little noise seems to come from there now.

But positivity is key. I hope we’re not becoming complacent with the wins and just turning up to expect a show

Thanks for the downvotes :)

I think we're in need of some original songs, and it's harder to suggest something than sitting at home calling everything else rubbish.

They called us the Tractor boys, because they think we're s*t
Backwards f*ers with no internet

They laughed at our culture
Laughed at our ploughs
But none of those f*ers are laughing now

We're Ipswich..... Ipswich Town,
And we kept singing when we went down

Ipswich..... Ipswich Town
Six fingered inbreds
Backwater town

THEY CALLED US THE TRACTTTTOOORRRBOYYYS, because they think we're sh*t.... (repeat)

Song for George
at 14:22 17 Nov 2023

To the tune of My Old Man's a Dustman (obviously):

George Hirst's dad's a striker
He won three England caps
He played up front for Wednesday
But George said f**k that

I don't know how the rest of the song went
