McCarthy: Relationship With Fans Will Come into Thoughts on Future
at 20:52:02

MM very clever - turning it back on fans ..leaves of own accord fans fault ....leaves as sacked fans fault...haven't posted on here for a while and I don't care much for the regular berating of MM as expected when things going wrong ...until now .. never seen a manager be that disrespectful to fans and then deny it means his position untenable (in any other club)...there won't be a change until end of season - which is too late but then again we are Ipswich! For what it is worth thought 1st half we played well but unable to adapt second supports fans views on manager tactics

McCarthy Bemoans Bad Marking and Town Seeming to "Unravel"
at 02:39:15

First away game in 12 years - now know why. MM comments that we really good 1st half a joke. We were ok but lacked cutting edge. 2nd half same but little quality or passion all over pitch. Final 3rd as always been our main issue and very evident today. My mum could have jumped higher then Murphy and he looked knackered and like so many comments on here we all know Chambers is not a right back.

Town Continuing Payne Pursuit
at 11:26:45

Everyone is a little misinformed on here regarding Payne's position (I regularly watch Southend).Whilst he can play in midfield - he usually plays up front or just off the main striker (unsurprisingly someone over 6ft!). He is quick, two footed, attack minded and possesses a good shot on him (think of him a a poor man's Messi) Would be a great signing.

McCarthy: Pompey Deserved to Win
at 23:32:57

Heard too many times this season 'they deserved to win' / they 'deserved a point' / we didn't deserve anything - yet again a McCarthy team crashes out of the FA cup - supports claim he isn't interested in the competition - I for one would like to see us get at least into the 4th round! Also we need to hear less of MM comments as quote above after league games if we are to truly be a team challenging for the PO's

Leeds United 0-0 Town - Half-Time

Personally can't understand why Sears dropped - was our most threatening striker on Sunday. The bigger issue is the quality and creativity in final third. Lack of pace also an issue

I posted (and won some money) when Bent joined Brighton that he always scores on his league debut - I hope that run does not continue on Saturday!

McCarthy Impressed By Brilliant Brentford
at 08:55:44

Agree with rfretwell. We need to win the midfield and keep Pritchard quiet. Have a few Bees mates and they rate him but also said that they play the counter attack game even at home as they have pace and they look to get it out of back to wing backs quick. Tough game will take a draw.

Hunt Joining Town On Loan
at 22:49:12

Tip for Saturday - Darren Bent has scored on his debut for every club he has played for so get on that - I agree with all strange signing and yea would have Benty back but would not think McCarthy would want to drop McGoldrick for him as similar player. Hunt is a back up but with him and Salmon it's not quality backup!

Evans: I've Had Offers for Town
at 18:44:12

The faults of the past lie squarely with Clegg. Agree with Mattinlondon. Whilst many will say Evans appointed Clegg (yes a poor choice) it would have been Clegg who would have recommended and pushed for Keane - who without a doubt was a NA choice of biblical proportions for this club - on his appointment I was told by a well connected source in Ireland that he would be a disaster waiting to happen and if were to get any Irish manager they would have McCarthy - Shame he wasn't available as I believe if Mick had the money Roy had we'd go up no probs

Millwall 1-0 Town
at 00:22:03

Saw Millwall at Southend 2 weeks ago with 70% of starting line up and they were shocking - would struggle in Div 2. So how the hell can the Blues lose to such a poor team? In my view confirms that play offs is fantasy land...

Redundancies as Town Restructure Ticketing
at 23:21:47

few points - first club are coming into modern world of ticket distribution (no problem with this) - second, timings confusing and also having to purchase hour half before will put off casual support if no cash turnstiles = lower attendances - also what happens if 50 still in q at 1.30 will they turn away £1500? Last point is that shortsighted to cut out key distribution channels to your customers ie phone - will disadvantage some - should have also enabled mobile redemption ie barcode sent to phone..wud avoid need of reprinting

Southend Defender Linked
at 12:34:42

Have watched Southend a fair bit over last couple of seasons - he is a consistent performer likes to get forward and good tackler - whether can make the step up to the Championship is questionable (particularly on pace) but on a free would be a good acquistion (low wages also). On Cresswell - dont see that happening as wants to go back North for family reasons.

McCarthy and Clegg at AGM Tonight
at 22:33:34

I posted on here when AGM announced that those of us who have a vote should vote no against Clegg. As Carlisleaway says it won't remove him but would send a message to Marcus Evans that Clegg needs to improve his performance - most CEO's in my industry would have been long gone on his track record over the few years! Would be interested to know the 'No' count as couldn't be there tonight..

McCarthy and Clegg at PLC AGM
at 12:39:22

Bluefeast - I am not one to come on here and just say Clegg Out - indeed this is the first post I have placed. Clegg's record and performance as a CEO would in most other industry's seen him being given the boot in my opinion. He chose Keane (in conjunction with Evans) - a decision that diluted our club's image amongst many across this country. Further more he supported the decisions to give both him and Jewell cash (predominately on players that have been loanees). The club's financial state is worse than when Evans /Clegg took over - we were £32m in debt now that is treble (regardless whether that is covered or not by Evans). Decisions on pricing and ticketing have not been in the interests of those that support this club through thick or thin (least we not forget the game that was called off and fans asked to pay again). So you mention one department - why dont you add a few others of the above to the list. Regardless, the CEO is the person in a 'business' where the buck stops (not necessarily the owner) and that is Mr Simon Clegg - even Sheepshanks (a real CEO) held his hands up re the financial mess but I cant see Clegg ever doing that. PS: Performances on the pitch are influenced indirectly by the decisions made off it there is plently of history to back that up.

Town Move for Barnett
at 14:01:33

Personally not a 'Town' signing - and why are we lookin at players who are unprofessional off the pitch as hardly sets the standard for on it. Think he is definitely being signed to replace Campbell - shame as DJ has been the only one who looks likes like being able to find the net with any sort of regularity

For those of us who have a vote, time to tick the 'No' box regarding re-election of Clegg as a Director. Won't remove him but would send a message to the board.

Venus Fancies Town Job
at 23:48:03

My view is that Curbishley is the man - we should have had instead of Keane. Not now has been out too long. Not goin to popular but McCarthy is only one who knows how to get teams out of Division and whilst some will say he doesnt play the Ipswich way - then reflect on West Ham fans who said the same and whilst that not entirely happy with Big Sam they wouldn't swap where they are now for playing the 'West Ham' way in mid- Championship! If were bottom then Karl Robinson would be my choice but bit of a gamble which would b right if we were mid table.

Town Target Curbishley
at 10:43:24

Said before Keane appointed that he was the right manager for us - played good football and understood a family club (Charlton). My opinion however had changed as been out of game too long and it has moved on since he was last managing - so not sure it would work now

Oh Marcus, I Can Feel the Soil Falling Over Jewell's Head
at 22:42:21

Agree with alfromcol and carlise away - great blog. Personally, I think we suffer from having very poor coaching staff - do not rate Hutchings or McCarthy (something that rarely gets a mention), and the same could be said when we had Keane. Average managers are often good managers when they have great coaches. I hope the next appointment addresses this issue along with the point you make well about long-term strategy and the use of the academy - I fear that this wont be the case based upon the decisions made by those at the top.
