Palace Linked With Stead Loan
Thursday, 27th Aug 2009 10:00

Crystal Palace are reported to want to sign Town striker Jon Stead on loan. The former Sheffield United, Sunderland and Huddersfield man is understood to be one of the players Roy Keane has told has no future with the Blues.

Earlier today, Doncaster Rovers manager Sean O’Driscoll revealed his interest in the 26-year-old frontman.

If he's going to move, please can it be on loan. Hopefully, then, if he re-finds his form he can still come back and do a job for Ipswich.

I bumped into and had a chat with Stead last night. He seems a top bloke, wants to stay and fight for his place. I rate him, should be given a run in the team, I think him and a poacher up front will do well for us.

jon stead is not good enough to get you promoted simple as that, what has he done for us against the so called big sides inthe championship? inconsistant as well.

Keane has a short memory. Stead was superb in Keane's first 3 games at the back end of last season. Before Keane let's him go, he should try Stead, Priskin & Counago up front.

This is a mistake. Stead links up play as well as any I've seen in this division. If paired with Snake for a few games I think they would be a good combo, but whoever RK chooses up front he needs to give them a few games. Changing centre forwards every game just destroys their confidence.

Why get rid of stead when he is always putting in 100% week in week out despite the poor results this is a stupid decision letting him go if it does go through!!

He is one of a few players that actually tries.. why Keano would want to get rid of him is beyond me. KEEP HIM!

I AGREE keep him he gives 100%. yeh he isnt prolific but neither is emile heskey and look what he brings to a team with the right partner (priskin/pab)

Keane is coming across as completely clueless to me..he's had 4 months to sort the team out and we're still nowhere near a settled 11...sort it out soon!

Stead's a good man to build an attack around. He's the first line of our defence with the balls he wins in front of the oppositions back four. I never saw him as a great goalscorer but as a good foil for others. I think he'll be a loss to us.

Am happy to see him g on loan if we have back up. Wouldn't want to sell him, the only reason he needs to go because of his wages, and he has been poor this season.

Bad move. Stead was one of our best players last season. Keane has played him as a lone striker in preseason which has'nt done him justice. He always gives 100% and seems to generaly loves the club. I met him shopping once and his a top bloke. A real fan's player.
