Crystal Palace are reported to want to sign Town striker Jon Stead on loan. The former Sheffield United, Sunderland and Huddersfield man is understood to be one of the players Roy Keane has told has no future with the Blues.

Earlier today, Doncaster Rovers manager Sean O’Driscoll revealed his interest in the 26-year-old frontman.

If paired with Snake for a few games I think they would be a good combo, but whoever RK chooses up front he needs to give them a few games. Changing centre forwards every game just destroys their confidence.

Plums added 15:40 - Aug 27 Stead's a good man to build an attack around. He's the first line of our defence with the balls he wins in front of the oppositions back four. I never saw him as a great goalscorer but as a good foil for others. I think he'll be a loss to us.

parkinshair added 19:39 - Aug 27 Bad move. Stead was one of our best players last season. Keane has played him as a lone striker in preseason which has'nt done him justice. He always gives 100% and seems to generaly loves the club. I met him shopping once and his a top bloke. A real fan's player.
