TWTD understands that Icelandic striker Pape Mamadou Faye is spending the week on trial with Town. The 18-year-old Senegal-born frontman, who is also set for a trial spell with Reading, is currently with Icelandic club Fylkir.

Faye has made 19 appearances in the Icelandic Premier League, netting one goal.

Last month he scored three goals for Iceland’s U19s in two friendlies against Scotland and also netted in a 3-2 European qualifier victory against Bulgaria a week ago.

I hope he's good, that he stays and is one for the future, but he's not the answer to our current problems: 1) The Icelandic League is hardly top class, 2) We have Wickham, who surely must be further along in his development, 3) We need an experienced, proven goal scorer next weekend, who can convert some of these chances I keep hearing about. Make no mistake about it; we are in a relegation battle. COYB
