Keane: Further Moves Possible Before Deadline Fri 20th Nov 2009 10:48
Boss Roy Keane says there could be further moves in and out of the club before next Thursday’s emergency loan deadline. Earlier today, central defender Pim Balkestein joined Brentford on a month’s loan.
Keane said: “We're in discussions with one or two clubs about one or two of our players and I'll maybe look at that in the next day or so and maybe bring in one or two ourselves. We'll see what happens over the next few days.” The Blues boss says he has heard nothing from any club regarding Connor Wickham and Owen Garvan, despite plenty of speculation in recent days: ”I’ve had no calls about those players, so I think you’ve got the right word there – speculation.” Garvan could even return to the Town squad for Saturday's home game with Sheffield Wednesday, Keane having been impressed with his performance in the reserves at Luton: "He's getting games under his belt, he was away with Ireland's U21s and played in the reserves, so I've no worries about his core fitness. "He's trained with us for the last few days and as usual I know the qualities Owen has and sometimes I think we might need something different. He did himself no harm by playing well in the reserves the other day." Keane also dismissed reports of interest in Hearts left-back Lee Wallace as “speculation” and said he knew nothing of a claim that former Blue Kieron Dyer was on his way back to Portman Road. The Town manager says work to sign Senegalese free agent Ibrahima Faye, also a left-back, continues: “There’s a lot of paperwork to be done on that, but I’ve left it with the club secretary. It’s not dead in the water yet, but it’s going to be hard work.” Former Troyes defender Faye, 30, recently impressed in a trial, playing in the reserve game against Norwich.

I'm not holding my breath! We've had so much speculation about people coming and going and nothing has happened so don't see why we should expect anyone in now! I wonder if the 'Keane effect' we all hoped for (in encouraging players to come here0 is actually working in reverse! | 988 forum posts 62 news comments 2 match reports 0 blogs 0 polls | | Please log in to report abuse |

Maybe sending RK out on loan might be an idea? Looks like he needs the experience although if he turns up late for training and then leaves early maybe nobody would want him? | 11 forum posts 47 news comments 1 match reports 0 blogs 0 polls | | Please log in to report abuse |

Yep I think everone on this site would be in agreement that GIo and Keiron would be a good addition. Anyone who says no is just arguing for arguments sake. A half fit Keiron is ten times better than a fully fit trotter. | 190 forum posts 154 news comments 1 match reports 0 blogs 0 polls | | Please log in to report abuse |

i think keane is struggling to get well know players in as they know they will get slated if they make a mistake which wont help there career but players from lower league may relish the chance to play for someone like keane | 0 forum posts 410 news comments 2 match reports 0 blogs 0 polls | | Please log in to report abuse |

The most positive news we've heard about Garvan for months. Bring him in from the wilderness. | 1 forum posts 34 news comments 5 match reports 0 blogs 0 polls | | Please log in to report abuse |

Dyer has a hamstring problem which is why he is not playing for WHU. He is a waster who has wasted his talents. We got rid of Dozzell because he would be a bad influence on our young players. Dyer is rarely fit for football but no doubt always fit for "playing". No we do not need him. As for Gio, we have lots of players already signed at great expense. It is time for Rk to get the best out of what we have - we have signed what is it 11? since he took over - or move on. With the squad we have and the money spent we should have enough to move up the table. | 11 forum posts 47 news comments 1 match reports 0 blogs 0 polls | | Please log in to report abuse |

Keiron Dyer is NOT a waster, and we did not get rid of Dozzell for the reasons you think. You a budgie cos you don`t know much about Ipswich Dyer and Bramble helped to keep our yoof system going when we were potless. Dozzell manages and coaches youngsters Dyer has been very unfortunate with injuries, but from what I understand just about back to full fitness. | 184 forum posts 34 news comments 0 match reports 0 blogs 0 polls | | Please log in to report abuse |

Got rid of Dozzel because he was a bad influence of the youths? Do you work for NOTW and was this from your inside source? Get real, as for Dyer a waster he is not, injury prone he is and that is the only reason I would question signing him. A fully fit Dyer is class and most players even in the premier can't touch him. So the question is do you take a gamble and sign him hoping that the move will break his injury curse (it has happened with other other players that were injury proned and they move to a club to never get injured again) or do you just not bother? I don't know the answer and thankfully I don't have to answer it the powers that be at the club do. I love the fact Kieron has always wanted to come back to Ipswich and I know he is a huge Town fan for me that is a very big plus. | 2994 forum posts 204 news comments 2 match reports 0 blogs 0 polls | | Please log in to report abuse |

Gio and Dyer? Yeah, we'd all love to see that. Could it realistically happen? It seems a bit like wishful thinking and if it's true that they're injured then obviously that's all these rumours will ever amount to. But agree with loaning that type of player, someone who can make things happen, and who is definitely better than what we have at the moment. Loaning another player of similar quality to those already here makes little sense as the squad are having enough problems learning to play together as it is (with all the new signings AND the team being changed every single week) and shaking things up any further would just be unnecessary. That is unless the loanee is a left midfielder who can actually use his left foot. That would be very welcome indeed. "I know the qualities Owen has and sometimes I think we might need something different. He did himself no harm by playing well in the reserves the other day" Like this quote a lot. Hopefully it means that Garvan has stopped being a drama queen about this whole situation and started to get his head down and work to prove Keane wrong. Which would be fantastic for everyone. A Garvan with effort? The other teams won't know what hit them. Who knows, if he comes out of this stronger it might show that Keane's uncompromising man-mangement techniques are actually effective. I never saw that coming. | 0 forum posts 26 news comments 1 match reports 0 blogs 0 polls | | Please log in to report abuse |
