Town Amongst Clubs Linked With Halmosi
Town Amongst Clubs Linked With Halmosi
Monday, 28th Dec 2009 09:31

Town, Sheffield United, Coventry and Plymouth are all eyeing a loan move for Hull City left winger Peter Halmosi, according to reports in Hungary. The 30-year-old is yet to play for the Tigers in the Premier League this season, but has no plans to leave the KC Stadium permanently in January.

The ex-Plymouth man says a loan switch could be a possibility if he continues to remain on the sidelines at Hull: "Honestly, I don't plan to leave the club in January. A two or three-month loan spell could be a possibility but I would only be keen on deals until the end of the season.

"I would only leave if another club is willing to buy out my contract. The season is very long, but if my situation doesn't change then I might have to leave.

"I haven't spoken to Phil Brown about things like this since I have been here. However, at the beginning of the season we had a conversation and he said that this might be my season. The emphasis appears to be on the words 'might be'."

Former Szombathelyi Haladás and Grazer AK man Halmosi joined Plymouth from Debreceni in his home country in January 2007 initially on loan. A permanent £400,000 deal was sealed the following May. Capped 30 times by Hungary, Halmosi moved on to Hull for £2 million in the summer of 2008, signing a four-year deal.

Town’s most natural left winger Luciano Civelli is continuing his recovery from his knee ligament injury and is still at least a month away from a return. However, Owen Garvan has done well in the left-sided role in recent week and Town are unlikely to sign any more midfielders until one or two leave either on loan or on a permanent basis.

IMO I wouldn't bother with him, Garvan has looked alot better since coming back into the team, Norris isn't far off, & surely are top priority should still be a striker or 2? (loan or permanent)

He was very impressive for Plymouth before his move to Hull. He would be a good signing and would be way more effective than Garvan/Norris who should be used in their best area (central m/f). He's very similar to what I've seen of Civelli (but not as strong) so would be a good player to help ease Civelli back into the team...

we dont need him. as others have stated we have far better players already here but as yet to return from injury.

What we DO need is a decent striker - but I guess RK is working on this as we type!!

i wanted him before he went to hull from plymouth, so i consider him a quality player at this level.....however i think our midfield is pretty set what with norris coming back and civelli hopefully following in january, that along with garvan doing quite well on the left, i think there are more pressing needs right now

Think he would be a good signing, at least on a month or two's loan untill Civelli is fit again. We need natural attacking players to play in the wide role, and although Garvan has done well there he's not a wide player. I'd say let Trotter go out on loan, Healy loan or even permanent transfer to Hartlepool, try to get this guy in for however long the deal could be done for and I'd like to see us try to make a move for Beckford from Leeds. I know it's been said that our record of signing players from lower leagues in recent seasons hasn't always worked out (Parkin, Roberts etc) but that's not always the case.

I live in Plymouth and from the time he was at Argyle I woud definately think he would be worth a punt on loan, I know we have Civelli coming back soon but Halmosi is a good stand-in while we wait for Civelli to get back to full match fitness. He is direct, pacy and has a fair amount of skill. Also scores too which is always a bonus. Would be able to link up with Chuck as those two along with Ebanks Blake were Argyles best three players by a country mile.

He might help Priskin settle.

I also live in Plymouth (Tavistock) and I would deffinately say he'd be worth a loan. I think he could do a lot for us in the championship and I know he was a favourite with many of the Argyle fans, so I'd be in favour of this one :)

A half decent player but how many midfielders do we need!?
A good striker to partner Stead and suddenly i feel we will be a very good team.

COYB!

A decent player, and I would guess that Civelli is unlikely to play until March - we could do with some balance yet we have a very strong midfield in my opinion.

We could do with back up in defence, but the priority surely has to be a striker as surely John will return to Palace.

No. No. No. No. No...

Surely not Keane must have learnt from his previous signings of Lee Martin, Tamas Priskin, Colin Healy. Please not.
