Keane to Make Lisbie Decision On Monday
Keane to Make Lisbie Decision On Monday
Saturday, 30th Jan 2010 05:00

Blues boss Roy Keane says he will make a decision on Kevin Lisbie’s future on Monday, the final day of the transfer window. The Town manager confirmed Southampton’s interest in the striker, who is currently on loan at Colchester, but says the Saints signing of Lee Barnard from Southend means that move won’t now happen.

Keane says there is currently no other interest in the 31-year-old: “We had previously but when you have Southampton signing the lad Barnard, obviously they aren’t going to go for Lisbie now.

“At this moment in time, unless things drastically change over the weekend, we’ll probably make the decision on Monday what to do with Kevin.”

Town could recall the ex-Jamaica international, either to play him or sell him if there is an interested party, or alternatively allow him stay at Colchester until May.

The ex-Charlton man, who has scored 11 goals in 25 starts and two sub appearances for the U’s this season, is contracted to the Blues until the summer of 2011.

Only striker on the books with pace (and even that is debatable) but not sure if he is quite Championship quality

agree MaySixth - just maybe his pace and gettng balls through to Prisken in the box we could have a contraversal but workable front two? with Pablo on the bench for impact? Like John Stead but he is neither a fast runner nor a fox in the box - has taken a couple of goals well this season though.

Well if nothing else, it'll get the Col Who fans all upset that nasty Mr Keane can take his player back on Monday.

I don't really think we should bring back a player who doesn't want to be here and who may unsettle the team spirit. Every club wants a striker, yet not a sniff of interest in Lisbie! No doubt due to the wages we put him on. It irks me that we are paying some of his wages where Colchester get his services without paying a transfer fee but I guess we'll just have to put up with it.

Lisbie isn't good enough. If we can sell him great - if not keep him on loan.

As soon as Lisbie made it public that he wasn't willing to relocate his family, it was always going to be a problem trying to offload him; managers from clubs outside London would think twice about trying to sign him.

Let him stay at Colchester - they must be paying at least some of his wages, and if they manage to sneak promotion Colchester might be able to afford him over the summer...

If he is costing us money by subsidising his wages , wouldn't it be better to cut our losses and take a reasonable offer from Colchester to get him off our hands . As it is , Colchester are laughing , they have his services and we pay part of his wages

Let him stay at Colchester so we can spend some good money on signing Micheal Chopra.

Colchester will not make a reasonable offer and might not even take him on a free transfer due to his wages. With the loan they don't have to pay a few and can only pay a proportion of his wages. What a terrible signing Lisbie turned out to be -and another year of his contract to go!
