More Youngsters Agree Deals

Town boss Paul Jewell says a number of the Blues' younger players have committed to remaining at the club for next season, including central defender Troy Brown.

Jewell said: “I think Jack Ainsley’s signed his deal, I don’t think Tom Eastman has yet. I think Conor Hourihane’s agreed to his, as far as I’m aware. Troy Brown’s agreed his.”

Ainsley, Eastman and Hourihane were offered six-month deals, while Brown was handed another year at Portman Road.

Ronan Murray and Luke Hyam had previously signed one-year contracts.

To be honest, I don't think any of these will be offered further extensions after these deals as most, if not all, with the exceptions of Murray, Hyam & possibly Brown, are up to the standard required and I am still not sure that Murray is.

I see what your saying hucks and sort of agree. Give um a chance and time will tell. Hope they all prove us wrong and go on and get a decent career for themselves and hopefully benefit the club aswell

Why does PJ always 'think' someone has or hasn't signed a deal. Surely he should know if they have?

PJ doesn't seem to know ... it's all 'I think' - worrying?

Hyam is the real deal. He should be in the first team. Had he not got injured in the autumn the team's form may never have dipped so badly and we might be in the play-offs or even promoted by now.

Good news about Troy Brown, think he has what it takes to improve given time. Also pleased about Hyam. Like Jack Ainsley but would have hoped he would have pressed on a bit further by now.

fifeblue: I agree Hyam has the potential to be a good player in English football however if you putting our drastic drop in form and overall poor season down to one youngster in his 1st professional season getting injured then your mental

Good news. Hopefully these lads will come back for pre-season and really push for a place in the team or go out on a productive loan spell somewhere...

I wouldn't read too much into PJ using the words 'I think.' There is a lot going on at the moment and, assuming he doesn't have a photographic memory, it's not unfeasible that PJ may not be 100% up to speed on the current state of every single contract currently under negotiation. He's just giving the best answer he can from memory to a question...

Hyam should not be wanting to get played in a holding role at his age, that role is for a big strong experienced player that has played the central midfield role for years!

I think Mungo is right, Jewell is probably close to sealing a few transfers and his mind is focussed on sorting out the side for next season as soon as possible. A year ago I was worried, but not now. We are in safe hands.

Bedsitfc, how do you know about James Coppinger joining us?

someone that lives in doncaster, apparently its all agreed but not 100% how true but he looks like the player pj is signing next week. Very good replacement for norris.

Apparently he's only 5' 7" in his cotton socks
a good replacement for Quinn it appears if this transfer happens.
(perhaps he'll room mate with Peters) they can then share the same cot

Why we never seem to sign tall players puzzles me?
only ankle snappers
Compared to other teams that come here, we mostly look like midgets.

cats_whiskers: How did you get hold of my cat? As far as I know, she was in Sweden an hour ago!
