Tyson Turned Down Forest Deal
Tyson Turned Down Forest Deal

Nottingham Forest have revealed that reported Town target Nathan Tyson has turned down the offer of a new contract at the City Ground. Previously it was understood that the 29-year-old, who is believed to interest the Blues, Derby County and Hull City amongst others, had not been offered new terms by his current club.

Forest chief executive Mark Arthur said: “Under normal circumstances we would not be discussing matters like this in public but as a club we feel there is a need to explain the situation.

“Over the last season the club has been in regular contact with Nathan’s agent, chartered accountant Andy Weekes, and we informed him that we would be making an offer, in line with Football League regulations, when we knew what division we would be playing in next season.

“In the fullness of time we did that but were subsequently told by Mr Weekes that he was no longer Nathan’s agent and that the player’s matters were being dealt with by his father.

“Mr Len Tyson is neither a FA-registered agent nor an FA-registered close relative, who can act for players on a non-charging basis.

"Despite this, Nathan’s father has informed us that Nathan has rejected our contract offer. We would like to thank Nathan for his five years’ service and wish him well for the future.”

Tyson senior sees the situation rather differently: "Unfortunately, Nathan is leaving Forest. He is very upset.

"He is perplexed at the way this has been done because he feels he has given the club loyal service for the past five years. The way this has been done shows a lack of respect.

"The club has not discussed this with him since his last contract was signed. All it needed was a phone call or meeting telling him he was no longer part of their plans and Nathan could have prepared his family for the pending move.

"We have a lot of options now but we have probably narrowed it down to four clubs and will be making a decision soon.

"Nathan has always given 100% for Forest. He never spat his dummy out after being asked to play out of position. Every fan knows left midfield is not his best position.

"Now he just wants to get away and get his career back on track. This is no snub to the marvellous Forest fans. They have supported him from day one and always gave him a warm reception."

Sounds like a whole lot of trouble we could do without.
It sounds like money is the thing not football

Sharpe Maynard or MKS will do thanks

Sounds like we would be buying a whole heap of trouble with the whole family weighing in as well

Seen Tyson quite a bit at Forest this season(when he has played) and he is not the answer for us. Yes loads of pace to burn, but no end product. Be like haynes all over again. Talk round here is that he will end up at Derby anyway.

Sounds very complex. IF he is a target then it's now down to PJ and indeed Clegg to 'sell' the club to him. Let's see what happens.

Any footballer with family as an agent is a nightmare. Don't go near him. Look at Anelka, his brother is a complete a*s

It's always hard too know who too believe when clubs and players put each others sides in to the press, Forest are obviously annoyed and his old man will naturally defend him and put forwardt a different picture, but it doesn't paint him in the greatest of a lights does it.

Not sure if he's THAT great either to go through the pains of dealing with his 'agent' father who, not surprisingly, thinks his son is mutts nuts.

At 29 he should be the finished product, but he doesn't play like it. Not good enough, except as cover.

I would only play him on the wing but as he doesn't want to play there I would say no. We've got enough strikers who don't score.

Leave it alone I say. Sounds like trouble. If he were that good a Prem team would be in for him.

How many times have we heard that no one has contacted me or we contacted him and no reply.
Football really is a mess from FIFA downwards, taken over by greed and self interest and when the family gets involved even worse.
No thanks mate, unload your baggage elsewhere we already have quit enough of our own.

We have lacked pace in team for years we need some genuine pace so Tyson, Nugent, Townsend, Dyer and Gio would be fantastic

Tyson is off to Sheffield Wednesday.... He would rather play for a league one team than for us! says it all really.

Probably because he is settled in the area.

Next!

My opinion is if PJ wants him, it is because he thinks he can get something out of him...so I will welcome him with open arms....if all this is just paper talk then it means PJ is not interested so it is a case of, oh well. what a shame, never mind......

I am friends with a life-long Forest fan who goes to a lot of games. He assures me that Tyson is pants.

Aren't we meant to be improving the squad?
