Fans Flock to Open Day
Fans Flock to Open Day

More than 2,000 fans attended this morning’s Portman Road open day to watch Paul Jewell and his coaching staff put their players through their paces on the main pitch. The squad also signed autographs, while face-painting, a freestyle ball juggler and a balloon modeller were amongst the other attractions.

Chief executive Simon Clegg says the day gave some supporters their first chance to catch a glimpse of the new signings: "It is important to the club that we retain the ability to communicate with the fans.

“We've brought in seven new players over the course of the summer and for many fans this is the first opportunity for them to see those players.

"It is great to see them training and it is great for the Junior Blues members in particular, who have their own section here.

"What we intend to do is build on this programme and make it something really special because, of course, the Junior Blues of today will be our season ticket holders of tomorrow."

New loan signing David Stockdale tweeted that he was impressed with the crowd: "Good open day today at Portman Road. Great turn out!"

Tommy Smith added: "Nice to see so many faces at the open day today. The support is much appreciated by all the players and staff."

Well done to PJ and his staff for this morining's Open Training Session. I took my young daughters along and had a great time - nice to see the club returning to it's family values.
The players looked sharp. Lee Martin stood out for me - quick and hungry! All the new signings looked good too.
Can't wait for Bristol - COYB!!

Can't help but notice that Paul Jewell and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas have a similar hairstyle.

2,000?! That's a lot.

Didn't I read that we had only sold 3,000 for Saturday's match as of a couple of days ago?

Went with grandson, enjoyable, Scotland can't even pass to his team-mates in training so why should we expect him to pass it during a match.
Only gripe was getting in, queue for lower section, then somebody said we could go in upper, lovely steward said no we had to go back down. Then when the lower filled up we had to go back up lovely steward said we were in the wrong section, everybody ignored her and sat down

Great morning. Especially the look around the boardroom and the great food at the networking area. Watching training rather a game was good as you could see whose hungry for the season and whose just there. Scotland looked trim which might mean he is fitter this season. And Edwards looked sharp. Priskin should be offloaded. But a great morning

If the club wants to attract the fans of tomorrow, Junior Blues should be free like it used to be.

Everyone who turned up for the Open day should have been given a free ticket for the Wolves game, and it should be free to all kidz accompanied by an Adult on the day or there will be about 27,000 empty seats !!
£15 for an Adult and £3 for kidz for a friendly, after charging the same to see Spurs reserves last year is a complete rip-off and the expected poor gate will surely show this.
All Season ticket holders should get in free or only £5 at most !
I will not be attending at these rip off prices, nor will my kidz !I had to pay these prices at Col U the other night. I sat in with the Col U as their kidz prices were only £3, whereas the Ipswich section kidz were £10 - I thought clubs had to charge the same for home and away fans ? !?

^^agree with a lot of that, infact, I wouldn't go to another friendly match unless they paid me! Kids should be free no question, maybe for every free child under 16 an Adult can get in for £10....my god that seems far too fair doesn't it...
