Town Amongst Clubs Watching Carlisle Striker
Town Amongst Clubs Watching Carlisle Striker
Tuesday, 15th Nov 2011 12:15

Town are amongst a number of clubs to have sent scouts to watch Carlisle striker Rory Loy, according to a report in Cumbria. The 23-year-old former Scotland U21 international netted a memorable goal for his side in their FA Cup victory over non-league Alfreton at the weekend.

Born in Dumfries, Loy grew up in Stranraer and having spent time with Kilmarnock as a youngster joined Rangers in 2007.

While at Ibrox the 5ft 10in tall frontman went on loan to Dunfermline and St Mirren. Having made two sub appearances for the Glasgow side, Loy moved on to his current club on a permanent basis for an undisclosed fee in January.

Since then he has made 20 starts and 18 sub appearances, scoring four goals, three this season. The pacy striker’s performances with the League One club are said to have caught the eye of several Championship clubs, Town apparently amongst them.

Carlisle, who are managed by Greg Abbott a team-mate of Paul Jewell's at Bradford, say that as yet no one has approached them regarding Loy, who is contracted until the summer of 2013.

4 goals in 38 appearances at a lower level and already 23, so this link doesn't excite me much.

Like that every link we have now is 'pacy' - some good pr spin me tigers ... if he is pacy they wont moan !!! More excited about George but hey if he is hungry and wants to prove himself - I would rather be fishing in these leagues than getting more 'vets'

Methinks that in order to 'sell' the player to the fans, anyone we are linked with from now to the transfer window will have the adjective 'pacy', 'fleet footed', 'quick' or plain 'fast' preceding their name.

Pacy and young - the typeof players we need to move us away from PJ's favoured golden oldie approach. Also building a squad for the future would be a good idea - what a shame PJ has only realised that.

However, this guys goal-scoring record is poor.

If we are looking for a young striker i suggest PJS scouts get down to Brantham and have a look at Ollie Mann, this boy could make the grade and would hate to see Ipswich miss out on a local boy.
We have picked up some gems from local clubs in the past, Big Ted, Trevor Whymark, Clive Woods and Simon Milton to name a few.

Chopra Scotland Prislin Ellington Murphy Murray Jet are not good enough? Rory Loy is the guy to get us promoted?

Or is PJ building for his non existent future?

Please stop all this rumour rubbish, wait until January is over or we have actually signed someone.

Personally, I think PJ should work with what he's got and get them playing. Hopefully we'll be in or near a play-off position come January. If not we might have to rethink his future.

If were looking for a young scottish striker with a good goal scoring record, i think there might be one at Huddersfield we should look at.
