Jewell Confirms Wright Exit Agreement
Jewell Confirms Wright Exit Agreement
Tuesday, 31st Jan 2012 11:02

Town boss Paul Jewell has confirmed that keeper Richard Wright has an agreement with the club that he can move on if he is offered the chance of first team football by another club, as revealed by TWTD last earlier this month. Wright spent four days on trial with MLS side Dallas FC last week.

Jewell said: “He went over there to do some training with Dallas. He was always going to come back here, their season doesn’t start until March.

“It was an opportunity he wanted to take up, we knew he’d be back and Richard will be on the bench against West Ham.”

The Blues boss says Wright will be allowed to leave if he receives an offer from elsewhere, although the situation with Dallas is in its early stages: “There’s just a gentlemen’s agreement. He had an opportunity to go and have a look around with us not having a game [last week]. He went over for four days, that was all it was and something may or may not happen.”

Town will want to sign another keeper prior to Wright moving on, if he does, with Irish U21 international Stephen Henderson one of the three Portsmouth players currently targeted.

Does that mean he can come off at half-time if he gets a call from America!

Sounds more than reasonable. Town got Wright in as cover when Stockdale was injured, but we're not holding him back if he wants to progress his career elsewhere.

Does this mean we have actually put a bid on a keeper and it's not speculation ?

Well sounds like perfectly good sense to me as we are so very overburdened with experienced keepers and cover. /sarcoff Though maybe a new one arrriving?
