Has anyone on here done it?

Been talking about doing it with a few mates over the weekend and we are keen to look into it further and move planning on, so would be good to have any feedback from people who have done it.

Keen to hear of general experiences as well as pros and cons between organised tours vs self planned etc. Leaning towards organised based on what i've read.

Didn't Texters create a thread on this last year?

Ah, found it:

Cut a long story short, me and a mate are looking at doing this next year to raise money for a charity (or two)
Anyone done it?
Advise, tips etc etc

Thank you

I did the 3 Peaks in 2012, here are some tips.

Take a new set of clothes for each mountain. It rained continuously for us so having dry clothing (especially socks) for each mountain was a godsend.

Have a driver who does nothing but drive. They can sleep whilst everyone else climbs and it improves the safety of the trip monumentally.

We chose to start at Ben Nevis at 5pm, this seemed to work well as then only the beginning of Scarfell was at night (around 3am). It helped that we did the challenge in mid-June when the sunlight is quite generous.

Other than that....make sure your hotel is close to the end of Snowdon. Will be the best bath of your life!

We didn't have a guide and have no previous mountain experience yet had no issues. In the summer months you will see several groups doing the same challenge so you can even make a few friends on the way. Orienteering was easy on Ben Nevis (well trodden path) and Snowdon. However Scafell was a bit more challenging to locate from its base at 3am!

Make sure you train properly for it, it’s not ‘just a walk’
