Those wanting Hurst to go, think who could be next, Grayson? Pearson? No thanks 18:15 - Sep 22 with 1139 viewsMonkey

This is Evans “trying something different”, if it fails so soon he will revert to type and we will have someone like Simon Grayson in charge with more terrible football and the old boys club like we’ve had for years.

It’s been a really poor start for Hurst but it’s not as simple as should he go or not as we have to consider his successor if he does and I for one don’t want to give up on the new approach yet.

Or Warburton or Scott Parker (My first choice)

I wouldn't be adverse to Warburton now.

Poll: If only these two were available who would you choose for the rest of the season

Ultimately, if after 5 or so more games there's little sign of improvement, and it looks like Hurst is taking us towards League 1, there has to be a change of manager. Relegation would be catastrophic for the club.

An experienced manager might still just about be able to turn things round with enough lead-in to the January transfer window to assess the squad and decide what was needed.

Obviously the absence of long-term planning and leadership within the club is why we lurch along from crisis to crisis every few years - but it is really difficult to understand how the club's let Hurst come in and do what he's done - he's been allowed to take an enormous gamble on the future of the club, for the sake of him feeling like he's 'put his own stamp on things'.

Another 5 games and a caretaker for a game or two would see us approaching mid-season. IMO that's too long.

Points all well made, but surely any manager coming in is going to want to stamp his own mark, and to an extent how could a chairman say 'no' to these demands (fine if asking to spend money we don't have but all purchases within budget).

Evans must surely have been taking a deep breath and having to trust him, even in moments of letting so may of the yoof out on loan

Not letting Evans totally off the hook, but really he has bought into the idea of young exciting coach we wanted, plus the rhetoric about linking Klug and first team vision...

Hurst has been trusted, but alas maybe that trust was misplaced...?

Never wanted him. burley and butch with perhaps working with someone like dyer for the future. They understand the club, can work with klug and the academy and will use our youngsters and bring in a few bargains instead of farming out all our youths and buying in div 1 players.
